I am able to simply copy/ paste full images, not just URL's or whatever,
images for example from Google image search, on another Forum I frequent, but it does not work here.

How to do that? Marc

Nope, you need to host them here ("Go Advanced") or use the image icon & URL like this:
Broken-Hammer.jpg.jpg
Limitation of the BB software version I guess.

You can right click on the pic itself & click on "Copy Image Location" or "Copy Image Url" . Then back here, from the "Reply to Thread" window, click the Insert Image icon
insertimage.gif
& paste your pic's location in the popup window. That will add the necessary code for you without any further work. This method also works with those pics found online from many other sources.

This is how the code for the pic below looks in the "Reply to Thread" window, except the {} are actually []:

With the correct brackets, that ^ code looks like this in the thread:

It's usually frowned upon to "hot link" to a photo hosted on another website - unless your paying to host it somewhere.

Just try to download it and then reupload it with your post. It also helps that if someone changes a link or name somewhere, the pic won't disappear

WHAT IS HOTLINKING AND BANDWIDTH THEFT?
Bandwidth theft or "hotlinking" is direct linking to a web site's files (images, video, etc.). An example would be using an <img> tag to display a JPEG image you found on someone else's web page so it will appear on your own site, eBay auction listing, weblog, forum message post, etc.

Bandwidth refers to the amount of data transferred from a web site to a user's computer. When you view a web page, you are using that site's bandwidth to display the files. Since web hosts charge based on the amount of data transferred, bandwidth is an issue. If a site is over its monthly bandwidth, it's billed for the extra data or taken offline.

A simple analogy for bandwidth theft: Imagine a random stranger plugging into your electrical outlets, using your electricity without your consent, and you paying for it.

Hmmm... Most of the sites I've been on encourage hotlinking. First I've heard of concerns over it. In fact, it seems odd that a site would have an "Insert Image" icon that applies IMG tags if it were an issue. :dunno:

You actually can link to pictures in your Google Photos collection. Here's how I do it (YMMV):

Do this once:
1. Create a Google Photos album for all your Garage Journal pictures. (That way, you'll know not to delete them and cause your picture links to break on GJ.)
2. Add pictures to the new album (duh).
3. Open the album, and then click on "More Options" icon (three vertical dots). Select "Options", then toggle "Share" to "on".

Do this for each picture you want to link to:
4. Click on a picture in the album. This will bring up the picture in full-screen view.
5. Right-click on the picture, then select "Copy image address".
6. Go to your GarageJournal.com post, and select the "Insert Image" icon, then paste the link you just copied. Note: it will be a very long link address (around 770 characters).

Obviously, after you have all your pictures in your Google Photos album, you only need to do steps 4-6 for each picture to which you want to link. I've tried to use the shortened URLs that you get (in Google Photos) by clicking on the "Share" icon, then clicking on "Create link", but those links don't work on Garage Journal.

Good luck!
