Yup, 18650 battery. My sentence structure isn't terribly great as I was comparing it to both the Braun and the Astro. The Astro does not have a removable battery, as that was the replacement I originally wanted to go for. The Astro also uses a Samsung 18650, but they've decided to go the permanent battery route. I like trying new tools, so I don't think I would've replaced it with the same thing even though it's a great light for its price point.
I have more 14.4 batteries than 18650 batteries, so whatever battery gets shoved up the rear end is kind of a moot point for me.
In the ever lasting quest to get my workbelt setup exactly where I need it to be I ordered yet ANOTHER Occidental pouch. This time the LH fatlip bag. Bigger pockets, tape on proper side. As usual quality and price are off the charts
Also picked up a Swanson Savage torpedo level to replace the ubiquitous Empire billets that everyone here uses. Mine is bright *** anodized orange so if someone snags it I'm gonna run em down

Not a big purchase, but I had points to burn at sears.
So I picked up a small tool box for $7 and a Phillips for my impact for $3 or thereabouts.
Gonna load the small box up with some tools to keep inside the house versus going out to my shop to get them. I figure a couple pipe wrenches, common size screwdrivers, pliers, Teflon tape, maybe a small 1/4” drive ratchet and socket set (came in handy when rebuilding the washing machine)... stuff like that. That way if something breaks when I’m not here, someone here has at least some tools to work on something. My shop usually remains locked when I’m not home....

It would be really interesting to see a side by side comparison with the new Milwaukee combination wrenches and those Facoms. Not sure if you have them available in the UK, but here is an example.

Ordered a set of Bahco screwdrivers from Amazon. Instead got a missed bag of Williams branded screwdrivers, which are all the same drivers from the Snap On family with different labels.
Going to return them though, because cased on the picture in the Bahco site, I expected this to be a set of the rebranded Irazola screwdrivers made in Spain, but instead only two of them were (the second and third from the right) and the rest were the cheaper Williams style made in Taiwan.

AMAZON is getting weird, or should I say the whole online shopping experience. I made an eBay purchase, Channellock pick set. The order was fulfilled by AMAZON. But I did not receive the pick set, I received a 4N1 Channellock screwdriver. Now the package said pick set, and the part # was for the pick set. Maybe a mispackage from the factory? Who knows. I did a return, and it shipped back to AMAZON. I could reorder but i fear I'll just get the same 4N1 screwdriver again. It's the wild west out there some days.

That happened to me except it was a air impact from IR. I think Amazon just uses product numbers for the pick outs at their warehouses and the picker must’ve got it confused. It’s happened once in like a couple hundred orders.
. I trust amazon if they are handling it, third party not so much and ebays great for used stuff but dealing with them can be a headache sometimes.

I just ran into that recently. It seems people are listing amazon items on ebay at a slightly higher price and then just having amazon drop ship the product to the buyer. I also got some clamps that were drop shipped from Lowes.
Its common practice that has been going on for quite a while now. It goes both ways. Although eBay just modified their seller system, so that ads doing this will appear lower on search results.

The Brown Truck just left a few packages.
1. ThermalOn Heating pads... best heating pads I have found. Microwave for 2 minutes... beautiful moist heat. You can freeze them for cold too. Today I got the Neck (pictured) and one for my shoulder.
2. Bag of zip tie clips... These are slightly smaller than the other ones I have been using and can be secured with 1 center screw (also sticky).
3. I found this ruler... Made In U.S.A Tap Drill Chart on one side, Decimal Equivalents on the other. I use these charts all the time... now I can just look at the ruler in my pocket protector.

So after a few weeks of checking out the various offerings from Ridgid, Dewalt, husky, Craftsman etc in the rolling tool boxes I ended up grabbing a Ridgid setup based on price, reviews, initial feel/ options and sturdiness.
I grabbed the bottom chest and the clear organizer for my work tools, steel and concrete pins, screws, squares etc. It was far sturdier feeling and the locking mechanism and latches are far better than the others. I'm 6'4 so the handle isn't the perfect height but minor complaint. I wanted to like the packout but for me I couldn't see the value in triple the price. I'm going back on Friday when they get more lidded chests in stock

Got these UltraPro Platinum ratchets last day of the Real Deals flyer. Essentially Carslyle ratchets. Buy the p12fx-90 1/2" Flex for $49 (reg $149) get the p28td-90 3/8 standard ratchet free (reg $56.00). Great tools for the money, especially on sale.

Ordered a new Occidental tool belt a couple weeks ago. This is my first time with Occidental and I love them so far. Way better than the AWP’s they replaced.
Also picked this up off craigslist a few days ago. I’ve been looking for a 32’ with tandem 10k axles, but for the price of this one I talked myself into settling for smaller.

I recently scored a Williams WSC-41 set on Prime for $110. I didn't really need it...but we know how that goes and I couldn't pass it up for that price. I really wanted the Supercombo wrenches and rest is just gravy.
Every piece came bagged separately.
The contents:

The only piece I am disappointed in, it just really feels cheap with a ton of play and the only piece not USA made.
Having only ever had Craftsman raised panel wrenches prior, these are a world apart in quality and feel...this is going to be a bad rabbit hole to go down, but oh well.
Compared to the one Snap-On Metric wrench that I have (Beam thickness and flank drive).
The sockets are great, not quite as bright as their Snap-on counterparts, but very nice Chrome. Much cleaner looking that the Craftsman of the same size / style. The broaching is also quite different between the two.

Just brought home a 1957 DeWalt MBF radial arm saw in pretty clean shape for $100 snagged off craigslist. Was in the previous owner’s basement shop for 30-40 years, he passed away and his sons were clearing out his tools. Hopefully I’ll have it for another 30-40 years after I clean it up then my kids may have to do the same.
They also threw in a set of 9 made in USA Greenlee turning chisels as a bonus. Don’t know much about them but will have to do some research. Just about everything else they tossed but this saw they wanted to go to a good home since they both had fond memories of using it with their dad.

Didn’t have a drill press in the shop, and I picked this up from a Facebook marketplace post today for $75. This hasn’t seen much use, and is super smooth. I believe it was made in 1997. Also included a 4” vise, chuck key, and a few rasps. I think I got a decent deal [emoji41].
