Hi all, I took 3 wrenches to show my non DIY brother the difference between adequate tools( craftsman ) better tools( Wright) and phenomenal tools ( Hazet). A craftsman 6 point was used as a sold my metric and sae raised panel 12 points to buy my Wright grip SAE set. My metric set is Gedore. The Hazet was bought for thin head yo help adjust rear band on my Dakota R/T torque flight transmission. Hazet has thinnest head and a deeper box end to clear obstructions. The craftsman is 0 degrees off box end then slopes to 15 degrees. Craftsman is heaviest . The Hazet the lightest . Side profile pics are Wright , Craftsman then Hazet. Box end close up is craftsman, Hazet and Wright

A lot of the points the OP made are pretty subjective. Industrial tool brand wrenches tend to be beefier and heavier because of their target market. I'd be far more concerned about whether or not the box end has surface drive or not. It makes a difference when dealing with rusted fasteners and brass fitting.

The protruding ring on the Hazet comes in handy where the Cman is useless. Their double box design posted above has a point preventing it, but wouldn't be hard to clean up.

Looking at these, I'd have to consider Hazet or SO for functionality.

Here’s a true industrial wrench

You aren’t gonna flex these wrenches . Heavy but nice.

For anyone considering new Wright double box wrenches you might want to look elsewhere. They recently "improved" them by making them much wider around the hips. How this is considered a improvement is beyond me.
I recently bought a new 12-14mm Wright double box and thought it slipped by quality control. I contacted Wright with photo's and they insured me this was their new improved design. They did send me a new 17-19mm but I like the old style much better.
Old top, new on the bottom.

WTF! That is stupid. Why make the ends thicker? The new design box-end looks retarded:headscrat

I think that is the first Craftsman six point box end I've ever seen.

I have a few of them, I always buy them if I see them at flea markets. I have one at work that is a 6pt 13mm and I cut it and welded it to a 12pt 13mm. I use this to loosen Chysler drain plugs as my snappy 12pt will round them.

Never really noticed the difference in many. I have seen some 6 point Craftsman a few times. My main question is what in the world does an 11/16 fit lol I haven’t ever needed one working on anything and I have a bunch of old stuff lol. That’s the only socket and wrench I have that’s never been used.

Several areas on the 2 older tractors I've worked on, gas fittings for welders, an oldish loader I had to tune up. That's just in the last 4 months.

Honestly it gets pulled out of the drawer a lot now that I'm thinking about it.

I have worked on some old tractors but never came across an 11/16 so I need to go find more old tractors lol. I didn’t know they were the size for gas fittings on a welder usually I’m not the one who changes them at work so I want to know lol.

Worked on older British cars, running into a 11/16 was not uncommon. Before I used tools professionally my cman (USA 2006-7) were fine, after they fell short quickly. So my cman wrenches were repurposed, perfect for turning into custom bent and ground tools.

That’s cool I haven’t worked on but maybe one or two British cars that’s when I was in high school automotive class. I use Craftsman professionally as well it works fine I haven’t had to bend or grind one yet fortunately I hope I never have to cause I can’t stand the thought of it.

I've used it on older Ford tractors.

Cool. The ones I have worked on have been old International Harvesters and John Deere. I have worked on modern tractors as well but most have went to metric now.

Just used the 11/16ths on an IH 350 yesterday not long after replying here, made me laugh to go pull it out.

If you have a 5/8ths bolt head, typically the nut will be 11/16ths.
