Hi,

I'm building a computer mount stand with 1/2" black iron pipes fixtures.
How can I lock them in position, so they will remain the same position ?
So as to support the computer in the same attitude.

I'm adapting a Car Computer Mount for an indoor purpose.

Thanks !

You maybe able to drill and thread a hole in the female end and use a set screw. If that does it work, You could also try tacking a weld or brase a tack on it.

1/8" spring pins. I get mine from mcmaster, they are cheap and you just drill a hole and tap them in.

You can get electrical pipe (conduit fitting and ridgid) lock ring/nuts, they are the same thread as iron pipe.

Thanks for your response !

I'm not sure how this helps with locking the fixture in position ?
Or assuring it will securely support the stand, mount, and computer ?

I've been warned against conduct and plastic- for this purpose.
Very interested to know !

Thanks.

With the need to picture in one's mind what you're doing any suggestion may or may not be applicable.

When I saw that iron pipe was being used my thought was why or how could it ever move.

Mickey O's idea, as I saw it, was using those fittings as a jam nut.

It's pretty hard to figure out what you're doing from the description of "iron pipe fixtures". Pictures would help.

As others have stated a few more details may help. You may be able to take some inspiration from my vehicle computer desk made from back pipe.

In the first picture jasondavidmann posted you can see a "floor flange" bolted to the seat base. Floor flanges come in round with 4 mounting holes and oblong with 2 mounting holes.

I am not sure what exactly you are asking. You want to stop it from rotating on the threads? You can weld black iron pipe, it is actually steel and not cast iron. A small MIG tack and you will keep it from being able to move.
