Now the time has come to reveal my garage project. I have been finding so much inspiration and knowhow just by looking at all the great garages on this forum that I thought it was time to give a little back.

My garage is just in the beginning stages so I thought it would be good with a couple of “pre” pictures, before I get into redoing a lot of it.

The projects that I am going to do are:

- Painting the whole thing (incl. logos on the walls)
- Put the lift in the ground
- Lights
- ceiling
- Epoxy floor
- An a general clean up :)

I’m so looking forward getting to work
Just for the record. Bad Karma is a 1964 VW Karmann Ghia, she shares the garage with a Suzuki SV1000S, Suzuki GSX-X 400 Impulse and a Jeep Cherokee (and a old moped in bits).

Hope you will all enjoy the progress

Best Regards
Sune

You are correct :) the Netto bag is a special oil collecting device and contains the funnel for motor oil :bounce:

Well some of the project must have to wait just a few days. I have to finish a little "surgery on the cherokee" as it needs to passe the MOT.

Unfortunatly I found a big crack in the caliber piston when I took it apart. Well better found in the garage than on the freeway

As long as not much is happening in regards to the projects I thought it would be nice to share a picture of the main garage occupant :)

Nice looking space you got there! The garage door doesn't seem to keep the weather out though.

Nope thats project number....well hopefully before winter :)

I'm thinking about a double barndoor style as I think it is wide enough to fit 2 cars side by side.

Heavy Metal!!

So a very important bit of kit got home yesterday. I opted for a steelplate to cover the whole when I (eventually) get the sissorlift into the floor.
I did not think it would be this heavy but luckily I only need about 25% of it.

It might need a bit of paint

Great to have a dad that does not mind helping :)

Looks like your holding that steel plate in that trailer with string! I hope you got yourself some strong string haha

Well we did drive very slowly and it was so heavy the risk of skiding was minimal, and you are seeing it in the "off load" position - but yes it is very strong string :bounce:

Well again its been to long since my last post. And again there are many explanations one of them being my new project that I am still working on and which have taken over the garage :)

Next year I am going to make an add on to our house, but as I am not one to go into new projects empty handed I wanted to make a trail build.

Our house is partly timbered (I think its called) so offcourse the same apllies to the addon. This is why I decided to build a small gardenhouse using the same techniqs - to be inside where it is dry I decided to build it inside the garage.

It's the part that's gonna fall in the ocean when
All Mortise and Tenon on the garden house it looks like. That's a lot of cutting and chopping even for a small structure like this one. Definitely going to be very cool.

Love the pic of you banging on the chisel. Made me chuckle.

Also really dig the two tone paint scheme on Bad Karma and the wire wheels.
It looks fast just sitting there.

Thanks for all the comments - true I can see the recemblins to Pauly - but I'm sorry to say I'm not him :) don't think he does a lot of wood working :)

I'll post a picture of the engine another day when I get round to it.

It is all mortise and tenon - not a single nail or screw, and yes it was a lot of work but also a lot of fun and a learning processes, I would not mind building another one (only bigger :)

It also gave me a years supply of woodchips :)

I actually build the house twice once in the garage not to get wet an the again outside. The roof was especially tricky as I have chosen a pyramid construction.
It had to be build on site as my garage is not tall enough.

Well it's been a while since I posted a few pictures of the main outdoor project, but I have been busy working on the Cherokee (my main transportation, when it is not Ghia weather - read..nice and sunny). First the clutch went. It was the slave clutch cylinder - fixed that. Then the main driveshaft went to pieces on the highway no less :wtf: Now that is fixed too - hopefully, as I just finished.

This means that the garage is a mess, so no pictures of that :) even though I'm doing some restoration on an old front door that I think it worth a picture or 2, but then I can post a new one of the garden house - now ready for walls

Nice shed. I like the use of no nails :)

On another note, I have been to Odense Staalskibsværft doing some work on the big Maersk container ships :)

Well I think I'm a very lucky man. She really understands the passion for project, garages and all things mechanical and to be build :)

She did not get me socks for my birthday - no no...this was my present!

I think she got it in a danish hardware store. A little assembly was needed, but that was just like getting a second present :)

By the way. I have just startet a new project. We live in a very old house that once was used as a horse changing station for the danish kings messenger service. That is also why I needed to make sure that the garden "shed" matched the rest of the buildings.

As part of the restoration of the house we where looking into which sort of lamps would be sutible for a house with that kind of history. I searched the secondhand stores and fleamarkets for something in cast iron but alas it was all **** - pardon my french :)

Then I got the idea - what about horse garriage lamps? Horse changing house - garriage - it all made sense. So I found these:

(there are 2, but they are the same)

So now I need to electrify them as they are kerrosen now and that won't do. Well it is difficult to adjust the automatic light sensor anyway :)

Garage Art

Well it has been a while since my last post. It's been a miserable weather in DK and mostly it has been time for just sitting by the fireplace and reading car and motorcycle magazines.

It might be an idea to get some heating installed in the garage - would make it a lot more useful in the winter...and yes I know what you will say - just dress warmly and you have no problem - and I could...but I wont :)

But then it has also been christmas. I what to give your garage. Tools are always a good idea, but hey I get them myself from my girlfriend...mmmh
Then it came to me artwork. My garage needs to look the part too..so I thought about these metal signs with oil commercials - but they are really expensive in DK and hard to get and I would like something that was'nt too small, and not to expensive. It should say vintage racing or something. So I tried to find some Monaco GP poster, still pretty expensive even repro's. But then I stumpled upon these, and the are for a racing event in DK - GREAT christmas saved, garage happy.

Enjoy - best new year wishes to you all.

Love the posters! Your thread is one reason I am loving GJ. Getting to see little glimpses from all over the world. I have some Danish ancestory, so Denmark is on my list of future travels....hopefully! Congrats on the upcoming marriage and great work in the garage.

Let there be light.

After a very long and cold winter planning how to make the shop better I finally got around to installing 5 new skylights. Prior to the installation there where some ugly leaky holes covered with plastic to provide light, but when I closed them I ended up with a very dark and moist shop.

Wondering what to do I found five used skylights and brought the home in my trailer. The wife saying that if was to cross the high bridge, between the islands of Zealand and Funen, where we live, I needed to buy more robe (which of course I did – sorry no pictures ).

It has taken some time installing them as the weather in Denmark is not always optimal when you need to cut big holes in the roof. Now that they are there they look absolutely fantastic and the light is just what you need to get some projects underway.

Only problem now is heat. It has gotten a lot warmer inside which I look forward to when winter comes, but now that summer is finally here a bit of ventilation might be needed – great project creating new project.
Sorry about the messy shop – next order of business – Clean up the shop
