It's finally time to show off my restored SJ-18 jack. Many thanks to Hiball, the nice folks at my local hydraulic shop (Authorized Equipment Service) in Memphis and some great friends that helped make this all possible. I hope everybody enjoys the pics:

It looks like it could fly! Or at least set a land speed record or two. Have you tried either yet?

Why do you have cardboard under the jack when you're lifting with it? Just curious as I've never seen this done before.

Gawd those are beautiful.

Are those powdercoated or painted?

Automotive paint products were used to refinish the jack. A listing of what was used can be found here:

I'm not at the point where I can actually roll those nicely refinished wheels on the concrete floor. :willy_nil

Very nicely done

Does Elroy see a third candidate in the back ground waiting its turn ??

You've got a good eye there Elroy. Yep, that's the S-4 waiting it's turn in line.

That Turned out Nice David..

Steven, I couldn't have completed this jack without your help. I appreciate you standing by your work.

Take a look at this thread posted by oldjacks. He has some pics of an awesome vintage catalog showing the many features of the SJ-18:

CRTDI, I've been so ******* with my Walker Jack restoration I haven't had a chance to visit your work. Thanks for posting a link for this over at my thread. Having just done my jack, we now both know what is involved to do the job right! Your work speaks for itself with great attention to detail and superb execution. It's wonderful to see others recognizing the wonderful qualities these older pieces of equipment contain and then take the time to study them and perform such a well done restoration as this. You sir, are certainly a man after my own heart!

For others who may wish to see the end results of a similar vintage Walker "Big Boy" floor jack restoration see:

Well done CRTDI, all the way around!

What is the history of the jack design/styling? Who did the art deco design that looks like a Chrysler Airflow?

I just acquired an SJ-18 today. I swear they patterned the Batmobile after this jack.....lol. I found a new set of seals for it on Ebay, but may need a few other parts to finish it up. May not bother painting it, but this resto is off the charts!!! Thanks for sharing.

Awesome jack moose. I just sent the seal kit out. (That's my ebay stuff.)

Anybody else want them, here's a the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Bla...-K-Seal-Repair-Rebuild-Kit-/261781506438?rd=1

Buy through GJ and cut out ebay fees as well.

Hiball, don't you want like 20 of these!? Package deal??? lol.

I believe Ive already been thru this with another member, but those at S18 kits, Not a SJ18. The box isn't near big enough to house all the seals required to make a SJ18 work. Im not trying to bash on your listing, but I'm extremely Leary of NOS kits as even when talking about leathers and packing as they will start to break down and come apart.

I thought in another thread it said that those seal kits were for a bumper jack, not the SJ18 floor jack.

****....Yea, I tried to look up SJ vs J and, not knowing what you know, I couldn't find any concrete listings or data telling me what I needed to know.

There's a few more pics of the actual parts shown on my listing...but I do not know what exact seals they are for what part of the jack etc....

I was concerned about the age too to tell the truth. The rubber feels very soft and pliable as the packs are still sealed, but I can not know how it will react once opened and used.

dimwittedmoose...if they prove to be a problem, let me know and I'll get you taken care.
