Found my old Wilton Vise

My wife had me cleaning out the attic the other day and I found my little Wilton vise that I had stashed up there a few years ago. I had intended to clean it up and put a coat of paint on it and use it for smaller work out in the shop. Like so many other projects it got put aside. I forgot I even owned the little sucker. I think I may sand blast it tonight and prep it for paint....

Ha! Our attic is probably 95% Christmas **** and luggage. What my wife doesn't know is that when she asks me to clean the garage and throw out my old "junk" I smuggle it up to the far nooks in the attic. I found it when we ended up with some freeloading squirrels trying to setup shop in the attic :bounce:

I got the vise all cleaned up last night. Sandblasted it and primered. For color choice.... I see a lot of these things painted with a metallic green paint but I think this one is older and they were painted grey. Is that correct?

Where are the Wilton guys when you need them? Probably out on CL hunts getting the deals that make us jealous.

Painters Touch Sage Green is as close as I can come to original.

I just picked up a can of what was referred to as "machine grey" enamel at the local hardware store. Turned out pretty nice I think.

Crankshaftdan - very intriguing vise.....make sure to post up some completed photos in the Vises thread

gpstraub - it looks very spiffy in grey....reminds me of all the old Navy vises on my ships in coloration

I've got to figure out what to use for jaw inserts on this one-hardwood-softwood-white nylon-brass? This is a two directional vise-a little bit unusual for the most part!..........Cranky
