Almost bought this 2 weeks ago at the swap meet, couldn't think of anyplace it would fit in the garage..... Then when i got home I had an epiphany!! Microwave cart for the kitchen! Went back this morning & it was still there, grabbed it for $75 :) So I'll get it cleaned up, repainted, fit a butcherblock top & we're in bidniz:thumbup: Also need to swap ends for the swivel/static castors & handle owing to where it's going in the kitchen.

It's an MB506, any idea of age, original cost etc?

ok, I screwed up. How the hell do the brakes on the swivel castors go back together? Anyone have a pic?

FFS, snookered by a ****** toolbox brake & can do P51 & F7F Tigercat brakes in my sleep with one arm tied behind my back....

Looks just like the Snap-On early 1980's that I have. Hmm, sand it leaving that swirl or brushed look stainless steel and then your clear coats. Grease the slides with olive oil and it will look good with SS microwave or Kitchen Aide mixer on top. JM3centsW

Thanks, JASTECH

Had a minor rearrangement in the garage... it may stay out there.... But I'm leaning towards the microwave cart plan more..

Now instead of moving two rollaways to get to two of my larger rollaways.. I now have to move 3 to get to them...

Paint on this thing is absolute garbage. I can wipe it off with lacquer thinner, but of I hit it with the DA the paint just balls up & clogs the paper.
At some point something was spilled down the front of it & soaked in behind the handles removing all the paint. I'm guessing that must have been lacquer thinner too seeing as it just lifts the paint right off like paint stripper usually does...

That's mighty generous of you

I just called Mac about new keys ($9 for 2) & they dated it as '91- '97 but didn't know the original price as it's no longer in the system... but the guy did say it was "significantly more" than the $75 I paid :)

Going to drop by the powdercoaters today for a quote...

Edit:
$250 for carcass one color & drawers another, or $200 for just one color...

You are fortunate that the paint came off so easily. That saved a lot of time. If I'm not mistaken and I may be, that Was Mac's low end box and wasn't well built, more like a Cman then a Mac. Would make a great microwave cart though. The 2 tone paint would really look great either in the garage or kitchen.

Change of plan: antique silver for the carcass, black gloss hammertone for the drawers.... Luckily they weren't done striping it when I changed my mind..

It might not be MAC's top of the line for that year but it does have doubles slides on the bottom drawer, which Craftman never did during those years.

Those go for $500 here in the SE, in the same condition. Looks super cool and will be awesome in the kitchen. Apparently you're not married? ...or you got a good one!
