I like the garage door, don't see those too often in residential applications. Interesting as well that the ramps and chocks are now yellow, mine was installed in March and they were blue. Might help keep me from walking into them.

how's your rolling jack?

The one I got had a fabrication error in it, and the wheels won't fit in it's track. Couldn't get BP to take it back for another one, so it just sits on the floor of the shop awaiting time for me to fix it so I can use it.

did you try to contact JSK on the forum? He's a VP over there

yeah, contacted him, and he put me in touch with someone to try and get it worked out. All my dealings with the second person were forwarded to JSK... the solution I wanted (replacement) was something BP did not want to do.

Really, hard to believe...they usually bend over backwards for customer service. one of the guys here on the forum had a leaky cylinder and posted here. Bendpak actually made the first move. here is the link to the guys response: try him, you never know...there are a lot of BendPak customers on this site.

Shoot us an email via [email protected] and be sure to mention *Judge from Garage Journal* - also, your full contact information. We’ll get you all fixed up in no time.

Hey! how come you got yellow ramps...mine are blue.
Maybe because of my big head. ;)

Mine fits fine & rolls fine. Wheels don't fit inside the track- they ride on the vertical edge of inner rail. I can take pics.

It's built like a tank!

And no- you don't want the window option. Windows bind when you try & roll up the door. They look like a part time helper cut them in w/ a dull chainsaw. Window rivets scratch up the inside of the door. Not happy. Lots of issues w/ the company who installed it. They had to order a new door less windows.

Thanks... that's what I meant, just didn't explain it well. I'd have to drill new holes for my ramp to get mine to fit, and I don't think that would work either, as the thing is actually not fabricated correctly, so it does not ride correctly on the rail.

Unless I'm missing something, the wheel position looks ok to me. They are supposed to sit on top of the guide rail. Also the rolling jack has adjustable width capability. Maybe you need to loosen the carrier and just adjust it?

Here's some pics:

This plate should have a flush weld, like this:

rj_45_1.sized.jpg

This is the same plate, but other end... plate is not flush:

rj_45_2.sized.jpg

This is the plate on opposite side of jack (flush):

rj_45_3.sized.jpg

other end of same plate:

rj_45_4.sized.jpg

This difference is keeping it from riding on it's rails... I even put in smaller bolts on the one ramp, to give me extra room, to no avail.

Here's a picture of one end of the jack, and how bent the roller area is:

rj_45_5.sized.jpg

The wheels do not even line up straight, so it will not even ride correctly on it's rail.

Wow! That last picture explains everything. Only way I can see to fix that is cut it off & reweld it so it's square front to back.

Hmmmm....now I see. That would irritate me also. They should do something with that. This is a big forum, lots of people watching, so I'm sure this is going to stick around until something is resolved.

I buy the "goofed up product no matter where its made" but I have been "reengineering" an awful lot of "made in China" stuff lately.

Steve,

Thanks for the heads up.

If I had a gun, I swear I'd pull the trigger. A great thread tainted. I sincerely do look at service issues as opportunities to shine because you get little credit when you do stuff you’re expected to do. But shine when the sky is grey and you’ll earn customers for life. As Jerrod mentioned, I was involved with the original sale then the subsequent incident communication. I passed on and trusted my service team colleagues would take the ball. Jerrod, I am sincerely sorry. Seems like someone was concerned of what the inevitable “correct fix” may be which is new cross tubes.

It’s more than simply the end plates – square or not. The problem was discovered when we made the change on our bridge jacks. The runways on our older HD-9ST’s (and some HD-9’s) were designed to accommodate slide-block bridge jacks – not newer grooved wheel bridge jacks We eventually discovered that the runways needed to be spread apart about 1/2” to accommodate the new jack design. The drafters never noticed a problem as they failed to check the tolerances with a new style jack in place.

A solution to the problem would be to use smaller diameter (higher tensile) runway bolts that would allow the runways to separate enough to make room, or convert back to the slider jack rails.

Or, worst case, swap the cross tubes.

Jerrod, I'll be sure and get a couple of new jack rails on the way assuming you have installed smaller runway bolts. I'll be sure to ship new style parts (square ones too) that are modified one inch lower so the jack does not sit as high.

Jeff

PS.
Steve - awesome thread! Glad to see things are coming together. I will respond to your PM.

Your back and knees will thank you for working overhead instead of on the ground, mine sure have.. :)

I really did not mean for this to go this route in the thread... was just asking a question about his jack, as I was curious about it compared to mine. I had written getting mine taken care of a long time ago, and was going to deal with "fixing" it myself.

Joel contacted me, and said he'll have a new jack sent out right away.

Sorry for highjacking the thread, as I said, that was not my intention. When I get a product, from whatever company, and something is wrong with it, I contact them to try and get it resolved. If nothing comes of it, I chaulk it up as a learning experience on my part, and just let it go. Life is to short to be pissed at everyone, and my time is far to precious to be dealing with the aggravation.

Jerrod,

I was not frustrated with you or your post. I was frustrated that someone here dropped the ball and left you hanging. You have every right to post your comments and you should. It's informative and makes Garage Journal legitimate and a better place, or as they say in O Brother, Where Art Thou?...Bona Fide.

Thanks for being so patient.

Hi Steves32

In your photos I can't tell whether your columns are anchored to your floor. Are they
? If not, how stable is the hoist in the raised position, with and without a car on it?

Thanks

I can tell you that I have found the heavier the vehicle is the more stable it becomes. With no car on it and the runways sitting on the ground you can sway the posts easily. I installed two 4 posts, one is anchored and one is not because I move it to another bay sometimes, I was leary at first but after working on many cars and trucks with it, I feel just fine working without it bolted. The non-anchored on is an XW, and the longer/wider any four post is the larger footprint will become increasingly more stable.

It is not anchored. Very stable w/ a car on it.
They provided the drop in studs & washers for it but there's no way you could lift off the tops of the studs w/ the wheel kit I have. At some point, I will bolt it down but will use redheads & bolts from the top. That way- if you needed to move it, you don't have to lift the posts above the studs to clear.

Steve,

Lookie here. Your new modified 32-Ford jack.

- Arm tube shortened on each side
- Both arms shortened to reach max retraction. (The arms are not fully retracted in these photos)
- Jack lowered 1"

Our crew will schedule delivery this week. Hope you're loving the lift.

Jeff

Now how's that for service!
I had a few concerns w/ the RJ 45 & my roadster. My car is super narrow in the front & the jack is too wide to work optimally for my car & sits too high on the rails for my comfort level (driving over it) . It's fine at rear of the car. I spoke with several 4 post BendPak customers at the LA Roadster Show with 32 Fords & all had same issues. Most are using the rolling tray & bottle jacks.

Here were the issues:
About an inch too wide to center the pad on bottom shock mount
397368112.jpg

397368110.jpg

397368113.jpg

Very close to hitting if jack too far back when I pull in. These are w/o my fat *** in the car! Not BendPaks fault- my car is LOOOOOOOOOOW.
397368114.jpg

397368116.jpg

I sent pics to Jeff where jack needed to be narrowed on each side.
397385201.jpg

And lowered
397384675.jpg

Jeff- I can't thank you enough. That's customer service above & beyond the call of duty!
I hope you offer this modification to other roadster owners. You will definately sell more of these units.

Rigo called me a few hours ago & set up an appointment for tomorrow morning.

BendPak- The best!!!

Ive been on the fence about getting one of those jacks for mine but was concerned about the height/clearance.

Can someone please tell me how high the pads are when fully retracted? Vipers are low.
