By my own dumb luck, I managed to acquire what I think is a pretty cool vintage Blackhawk tool set.

With the exception of one, :pimpflash my wife doesn't really care about any of my tools. I was blown away when my wife said, "That tool set is really cool. "

Enjoy the pics:

Shite!

That's not simply "cool"; those are the Holy Grail of collectable tools!!!

Please tell me you paid a lot of money for that set in excellent condition.

I'd give a left "Nugget" for that, but every time I see one my first thought is still that it looks like a vacuum cleaner! lol.

Dude,

You hit the mother load of rare collectable tools. And your wife has good tastes in tools as well. They're both keepers.

That is very nice. I have never seen a box like that. Do you know how old it is? Nice jack also

i'm curious as to the vintage of both the tool set and jack.

reminds me of the art deco stuff you see around.
so much of that syle/design has been tossed out over the years, if our parents/grandparents had only known...

That is a really great find to get one so perfect like that set and I think my wife would say the same thing.

Yeah, I would say that "jealous" is an appropriate word here. Not only is it the grail as far as I am concerned, but that is the best looking one I have seen yet. Just can't be many out there in that condition and as complete as that one seems to be.

No sock full of quarters or anthrax envelopes here; I salute a fellow Blackhawk fan on a magnificent score.

Maybe one day....

Just be careful CRTDI

Bull might act all nice and full of congratulations but....

If he tries to buy anything from you, it might be a good idea to leave the return address off of the package!

a lady i know has the same blackhawk tool set in but It is in a green tool box though. the handles telescope if i remember correctly to become longer/shorter. Do the ones in these do the same? I thought they were cool, but didn't push trying to buy them. just told her if she wanted to sell let me know. i dont think they are 7/16? but i doubt i would tell from naked eye.

One of those in much worse condition than yours went for $1600 on ebay last year and another went for $900. The thread about it is probably still up here somewhere. The Blackhawk 7/16" drive tools were pretty cool.

scoutguy,

I couldn't find that thread, it would be interesting for me to see.

I don't think to many people noticed your link to the CL ad. Yep, it was found on a CL posting. I was amazed when I came across it, as I could not believe the overall condition of the set. Even more amazing to me, is that it was listed for almost a week when I saw it. I thought that surely, one of the more astute tool hounds here had already snagged it.

Tempting fate, I called anyway. Ring, ring. Hello. "Is the tool kit still available?" Why yes it is. "Do you have a Paypal account" Yes I do. "Would you consider shipping it to me?" Sure no problem.

I was having nightmares thinking this thing was going to get crushed during shipping. The PO did a great job packing and Fedex did their part by not drop kicking it a every drop-off and pick-up point along the way.

The PO was really nice and easy to deal with and was happy to see the tool set passed on to someone that would care for it. He said he picked it up at a garage sale about 15 years ago and by selling it to me, he was making a nice little profit. :)

Im curious to hear a price too, the link expired before I could see it. That set is definitely in very nice condition, maybe the best Ive ever seen one of those in, but dont be fooled by the hype - those are pretty far from rare. There is at least two, possibly three of those sets abandoned in my grandfather's farm's shop alone. I see those at least once or twice each year at the various farm, business, and estate auctions I attend, usually for $2-300. Not to say theyre not cool/interesting/worth collecting, I love them, just saying they still do exist in quantity. That being said, $1600 or anything over about $500 and you can pretty easily tell its ebay.

Bull,

What happen to that unspoken agreement between us? You know the one. Where basically, I wouldn't go after any Blackhawk tools if you wouldn't go after any Blackhawk jacks. But you just couldn't control yourself could you? I couldn't believe what I was seeing when you crossed the line with this:

Let the turf wars begin!! :lol_hitti

Let's see some pics of those abandoned sets... I'm sure you could find someone here willing to adopt them.
