Good Holiday Weekend to Me! (new tool scores)

I had a pretty darn good weekend. First I picked up a good size welding table off the local CL. (notice it didn't take long to cover with junk)


It's 2x2 square tube and angle with a 4'x7' 3/8" top. Like new condition, looks like it was never used. The top isn't even welded to the frame, just resting on it, which makes me happy since I want to make some small changes. It has really nice heavy duty casters too.

Then I saw this up on a different local classifieds and took a look, and then on the trailer and back home:








Trinco Model 36 w/ BP2 dust collector. Overall very good shape, just needs a few odds and ends

- glass is broke on the door
- missing shield that goes over the lights
- missing fine mesh screen
- needs some new weatherstripping on a few spots.

Everything is fully functional though. Just needs a good cleaning and a few parts from the HW store. Got it all for $800.

Overall pretty good deals, not worthy of a "you ****" though.

Ok so a few questions for a first time blaster owner:

1. The filter bag is pretty dirty, should I just buy a new one or can I clean it? Any suggestions how?
2. For the lamp shield is it OK to use a peice of acrylic? Or should it be glass?
3. Any suggestions for the finer mesh to sift the sand out? Trinco sells it, but it's $17 and I bet I can find something cheaper
4. Any other maintence or parts I should replace refresh?

Awesome score there! 1. I would get a new bag
2. I would think that glass would be best, although you could probably get away with acrylic
3. maybe check out HD or LOWES for a finer mesh that might be used for concrete reinforcement? Old screen door screen? (might not be sturdy enough) might be cheaper than a factory replacement?

I beadblast for a side business you wanna go with acrylic for the light cover. the glass will etch over worse than the acrylic and cut down on the light you get. replace the bag no good way of cleaning that i have found.heavy duty screen should work to sift the sand. And last but not least check the draw tube for cracks and the draw hose that goes to the gun those will wear pretty quick if you use it a lot. And check HF for gun tips there pretty cheap if they will fit your gun. Good Luck and have fun I have been doing this for 12 plus years and still enjoy it.

That's a 4" gauge I got off McMaster when I ordered come other odds and ends. Makes knowing tank pressure much eaiser!

OK question on setting this guy up. I got my new vacuum bag from Trinco today, hooked it up and turned it on. When I turned it on, the plastic liner pulled in from the frame, and the gloves sucked into the cabinet and ballooned up. basically it was pulling strong vacuum on the cabinet, too strong. The cabinet has a slot on one side where it is open to atmosphere, and I replaced a small section of mesh filter that looked like a scotch brite pad. The vacuum is so strong it even pulls the filter out of the slot. I guess its sealed up too well.

What am I doing wrong? How big of an air leak do I need to set this thing up right? It shouldn't balloon the gloves right?

Correct it should not balloon the gloves, is the vacuum vented to the outside if not it should be mine is vented to the outside of my shop.

I like the large gauge on the quincy compressor. Do you have a better shot of the gauge installation?

No it's not but it doesn't look like it's supposed to be. The vacuum doesn't even have a connection to vent it...

I'll take a few more pics of the gauge tonight or tomorrow. I just got used to nice big gauges, at the plant I work at everything has big ol' 5in face gauges off all the drums/pipes/pumps/etc..., so much easier to read.
