Racedeck/SwissTrax Question

I am moving my garage projects into a 16x44 RV storage condo unit...this will be a working (personal) garage. I maintain a racecar (engine/trans/suspension maintenance) and am in the process of doing a full metal restore on a street car, including welding and rust repair. I have a 4 post lift already and will also be buying/installing a 2 post lift.

One big question...from the RaceDeck website, some working garages look to have installed their 2 post lift ON TOP of the RaceDeck. I was going to call them today to confirm, but have been swamped during business hours. So I figured I'd post the question here in the hope of getting an answer and helping others in the future. What is the correct way to install RaceDeck (or SwissTrax) with a 2 post lift? If I mount the lift directly to the floor and cut the RaceDeck around it, the arms will surely contact the floor.

Right now, based on the feedback in this forum and the fact that RaceDeck is a 12x12 tile, I am leaning towards it (assuming the pricing is equal). I'll need to do a bit more cutting with the SwissTrax larger tiles. I still need to measure the true inside dimensions of the unit to be sure...

Hi

As you have seen on this forum and in our gallery http://www.racedeck.com/racedeckgallery/index.html - many people have floor post lifts on top of RaceDeck as it is a non issue with weight loads and it also allows the lifts to easily be moved if needed.
With a two post lift we recommend installing them directly to the concrete and trim around the lift base plates, it looks very clean. The main reason being is that you want the lift to be securely tightened as all of the leverage load is on two points.
We are happy to walk you through trimming and installation tips for your garage floor, just give us a call.
