The store did not have this model but the other 80gal unit they had was stamped Campbell Hausfeld on the welded on plackard.

The unit I linked to seems to have the best cfm of anything in the price range. Is out crazy to think of spending this kind of money on a Kobalt unit. What would maintenance on a unit like this entail and cost. I already need to reroute an un used 220v to the garage that was initially installed for a hot tub that never happened.

Any input on this compressor out others that are comparable would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Looks like the older Coleman model to me. They were replaced by the CH units a good while back. I have the 30 gallon portable model. It's a good compressor. I would assume the larger units would be just as good.

When and where did you see a Kobalt with Campbell Hausfeld on it? CH has not made the Kobalt compressors in years. They changed from Campbell Hausfeld to Coleman-powermate about the same time they changed the hand tools from JH Williams to Danaher.

My Kobalt 80-gallon compressor is the 3-cyl, 4.7hp model and it is clearly made by Coleman-powermate.
The older CH made Kobalt compressors where much nicer then the new ones. If you have a chance to buy an NOS one, I would jump all over it if the price is right.

I was in the store today and either of the 2 large compressors had that on the plackard like I state above.

I thought that Coleman Powermate went out of business a few years back.

I guess I can call the CH tomorrow and give them the part number.

Found an "Industrial" that is obviously quite similar. Anyone know who makes those?

I have wondered about that myself. I know they did go bankrupt, but they are still around. (Google Coleman powermate). So who knows?

I have this compressor:

It has the same tank as the one you posted and I'm 100% sure it is made by Coleman. Even the replacement parts come from Coleman. Since the compressor you want has the exact same tank as the compressor I own, I would assume that it too is made by Coleman.(that and the fact that it is re-branded by industrial air
,witch is know for being Coleman)
However, A quick search shows up a bunch of new Kobalt compressors that don't look like Coleman units too me. They look more like CH compressors IMO.

Bottom line, Kobalt is a brand that likes to change OEM's alot. If it matters to you, I would check the OEM of the exact compressor model you want by reading the tag on the tank, or by calling the 1-888 number found in the back of the owners manual.

Thanks pro painter. Good info that I was looking for. I can't remember which comp was ch stamped but it was 1 of the matte finished ones.

Since you have the same one, how go too like it? Seems like it will put out enough sir for almost any job. Has yours been reliable? How long have you had it? What type of writing did you use to power it m

Does lowes put these on sale? Seems its special order, so would a sale carry over to this also? Thanks a bunch?
