Here we go, my fiance and i are building a 36x56x14h pole barn to be used as my fab and workshop. We purchased our first house in April 2011. Ive been busy since. Ive finialy saved enough money to build my dream. I bought a kit from diy polebarns out of Ohio. Please fell free to ask any questions ive gathered all the info i need to do this project from this great site.

My deuce with a 12x15 platform i built to help with the barn

The original homeowners had the septic all messed up. The soil pipe was run under the gravel driveway. My deuce must have crushed it since it was only a few inches under the gravel... Ohwhell time to redo it right. I dug it up with a tractor to get it going temp and re ran it when the trackhoe was on site.

Clinton my post are laminated so yes they are 3 2x6 glued and nailed together. I like them since they were straighter, they are supposed to last longer since the pressure treatment will get all the way through each 2x6. And another pluss is that they arnt treated all the way up so i can use the my non galvanized nails and hangers. The top board is the header and it is a 2x12. It is a double header i just havent installed the header on the other side of the posts

Sids04 its a dream come true. Not to just be getting a proper shop but that were doing everything Minus concrete and some of the grading. When i turned 19 my foot needed more surgeries and since i was at home so much through 5 of them i kinda stole both of my parents garages. Im still moving out of them. Amazing how many tools you build and collect! How do you like your gto

Haha you dont need a deuce you just find uses for one after you get one. I was going to rent scaffolding and it came to mind after my neighbor wanted to pitch about 40 12ft-20ft 2x6s. I was also very anxious for the building to arive and it was a nice little project.

we just set the last poles for the unfinished wall and laid out 2 girts so we can hopefully finish the wall on Thursday after work and set trusses on Saturday or Sunday. We can only hope!

Done the same thing only with a S10 1/4 ton and a 12 by 12 foot platform, for my 12 feet high walls. I found it handy later to hang my ceiling OSB and florescent tube fixtures. Keep your platform if you can!

Nice build. If it makes you feel better I had to dig out several of the holes on my barn last winter. I am sure it was my wife that marked those holes!

Ive have had my LONG COLD RAINING Saturday nights on each of their projects and it really pays off when you have a huge task to complete. Its very nice that my friends from building trades are a phone call away. I guess they know they will need something welded, wired or a place to store that boat till they tell the wife.... All kidding aside its great.

Today was a success we got the last wall up and are ready for trusses. We were a little off but made up for it over the course of the posts. Getting the deuce backed in next to the building was a bit tricky. Here are some pics guys and gals.

We used the comealong to pull the rear gable up. Then we set the regular trusses on the bumper of the deuce and then lifted it up to the platform. It was tricky
