Hi there,

New to the forum so thought I would say hello.

As a first time house buyer I am lucky enough to also have a garage. the GF got the garden :)

I have a lot of work to do and although I think its an alright size at 6m x 3m (Im not based in US, a lot of your garages seem massive in comparison) allready its a bit awkward with all the bikes and moving around. Hence I am here to look for inspiration on how I can best layout my garage.

There is still more work needing done. Being in Scotland I need to insulate the single skin concrete walls and do something with the roof to insulate (when snow is on the roof it "rains inside" from condensation)

It looks all clean now but has changed a bit since more bikes are inside and I store a bike trailer so I am trying to work out the best way of using the space.

Here is a before and after when I first got the place.

Having worked on my car indoors for the first time in 20+ years I can appreciate having a space, any space! And for me, it is a lot easier to work through a small space in terms of layout than a big one. My present shop is 19' x 19' and I like it's layout (still in progress), my old one was 2 stories, 25' by 50' and I never got a handle on it. Keep up the pics as you work on it!

Cheers folks,

Dont have an outside shot sorry.... Its not a nice as inside just now :)

SBHockey: its a hornet 600 or Hornet 599 ? as they are called in the states. I tried a SV but just didnt "work" with comfort sitting on them. Hornet has died though with a cracked cyclinder head at 80,000 miles.

Roger: yeah its asbestos corrugate. Im not concerned about the asbestos part unless any of it cracks. I have painted it to make dust and "seal" the roof but will also be insultating. The paint makes a massive difference in brightness but a lot of work. The roof and the concrete walls just **** up the paint and require loads of coats.

Ian: Hi to another Fifer.

Cheers
G

Had similar on a garage years ago. Id just insulate between your joists and then board it over. Makes a huge difference.

Thats a nice little area you have to start with. I was in Scotland a month ago [Glasgow, Inverness, Oban, Stornaway] and I was very suprised at how few garages there actually are. With the cold wet weather I assumed there would be at least a single garage on almost every home.

I imagine when you have it fully kitted up you'll have a few very envious neighbors.
