Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I am searching on the term "tig" and I don't get any hits. Can anyone advise how to do a search on this term?

Never mind, I used google advanced search to search the site. It is kind of whack that you have to go to another site to search for a term on this site.

google has an awesome search feature that lets you search any site for any search term. for my search in this case, i went to google and in the search box, i put tig site:garagejournal.com and the results yielded every post on this site with TIG mentioned in it.

i know most guys know this already, but this is just in case some brothers were not aware of that google feature.

You gotta be creative when searching these forums sometimes. If I were searching for "TIG" I might search for "tungsten" or something related to TIG Welding in general, then just search through the threads to find what you're looking for.

Check out www.metalmeet.com for lots of TIG welding info from the best metal men in the world.

What are you TIG welding?

Another place fro fantastic videos and info is WeldingTipsandTricks.com

I was trying to see if the question was already asked and answered previously before i posted it again. I wanted to ask brothers for their recommendation for a home use TIG welder that can also do aluminum. i would just be doing projects around the yard and on the jeep or blazer. i am not a trained weldor, but i have gotten good on my Miller 211 and now I want to try the TIG end of welding.

thanks

You need the bare minimum of an AC/DC machine with HF. Unless you have some money to spend, like 2K new or 1000-1500 used, you might look at one of the imports from China. Nowadays there are even name-brand Chinese welders. Everlast is one that the dude on my link above tested. He wasn't displeased at all.
