ASO w/ Stand from the ReStore

My office is not too far from a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I had to run a few errands at lunch so I stuck my head in and this followed me home. It is 16" of rail on a nice and heavy base. There is a lot of crusty rust on the lower portion of the base that should clean up fine. Granted, I'll be lucky if I find time to spruce it up sometime in 2012. Between the rail and the base is a 2x6 that is pretty beat up. I may replace it with a nice hardwood block. The stand is really what sold me on this item. I'm not sure how I will hide this one from the wife.

I also picked up couple of old open end wrenches. One is an old Indestro while the other is labeled West Germany but I can't tell what the letters in the triangle logo spell.

Oh, the rail & stand set me back $15 while the wrenches were $.50 each.

Out of curiosity, what do you think I could get for the rail & stand on Craigslist? I don't plan to sell them but I'm curious what they would be worth on the open market.

Probably $10 :)

I like the tractor axle housing though, so I'd go $15

I should have know what that stand was from. Duh, I feel dumb. It does make a nice stand and I love the industrial look.

hahaha what a coincidence.

i just now got back and sat down to report what I saw at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore I was just at.

Didn't see anything worth getting. Couple old HUGE black metal and wood office desks for $45. No tools. Totally random assortment of cabinets which is what I was looking for, nothing to take home tho. Tons of doors and windows and other old **** nobody wants. They did have a old thick work bench with an old craftsman 5-7 drawer cabinet and a 2 door cabinet for the bases for $70. Wasn't screaming at me to take it home.

I normally don't find that much of interest but I still like poking around. I have picked up a few older hand tools for almost nothing but it was never anything I would go out of my way to buy. It seems like they always have a radial arm saw for sale becuase no one wants them anymore. Apparently the ReStore I go to is one of the largest so it has lots of stuff. It is also near both rural, working class & rich areas so you plenty of customers to go with some nice stuff.

Nice. I didn't even know these stores existed until I read about them on here. I usually go to a steak n shake in town and happened to notice a ReStore right across the street. Today I finally got to go check it out for the first time. I forgot to ask them how often they cycle through whats in the store because I know whats there now I'd rather not go back until they have different stuff.

The one I go to always has a lot of the "usual" stuff like doors, windows, sinks, toilets bath tubs, etc. and usually some inventory of used cabinets, none of which match anything else. Sometimes they have some new cabinets, and they always have a lot of low grade nails and screws.
I've never found anything really exciting there or brought home something I thought was a great deal. I know I can find solid core doors there, so that's where I go when I need some for work benches, but otherwise haven't bought much from them.

The wife and I bought (7) 3" x 10' Industrial shop runners in red for $5 apiece from ours. You really have to look for things though. 'Bout the same as where Steevo is. Used sinks, toilets, hollow core doors, stereo's, and a buttload of old television sets.

Sometimes I think people drop the stuff off just to ReStore to keep from driving to the dump
