...And paid entirely too much for. :lol_hitti

I like my Aircat, but I just couldn't resist. This thing is so strong it's almost absurd. It's also even louder than the standard 2135... I think they removed anything resembling a muffler. I'm definitely not going to skip the earplugs when using this impact.

I have yet to hear it even bother to hammer on a lugnut. You just get a VRRRRRrrrrrr and it's out. I'll let you know what I think about it after I use it for a week or so. :)

(One of the main reasons I bought it was that I now get to use the Nitrocat at home - I'm sick of the ancient steel blue-point gun I used around the house).

I'm curious to see if it destroys itself as much power as it has. Let us know how it holds up so I can get one if they last.

I have seen a 231 that was still going strong after 15 years, and has never been rebuilt. IR is my next gun, I feel like my nitrocat is slowly deteriating....

Great buy, tell us how it compares to your aircat.

They extended the warranty to 2 years for this one. Prior, it has just been 1 year.

I do not expect any of these composite impacts to last more than 3 years of professional use. They're sort of consumable items, but having a gun that removes neary anything saves you enough time on the job that they pay for themselves before they die.

My plan to this point has been to use a gun until it needs rebuilt, fix it and sell it used, and get a new one.

See my thread on greasing it. Brought it back to like-new condition. Grease the impact mechanism, oil the gun three times in a row (run it briefly in between) and it'll work like a champ again.

Looks nice!

I'd also like to know how it compares to the NitroCat (As I just got one). I'm not a "professional daily user" so I'm hoping it will last a while.

Stupid question - the TC Nitro Cats are rated a 1k Torque in reverse (1100ft/lbs @ 100psi), is that a very exaggerated rating? The IR is @ 780 although still ALOT not as much as 1k.

They're all inflated grossly.

The 2135TiMAX's grossly-inflated rating is 1,100 - 1,200 depending where you look.

The Nitrocat is grossly-inflated to 800-1,000, depending where you look.

IMO, they both really do 300-400 ft/lb on a rusty suspension bolt. The marketing guys come up with those huge numbers under ideal conditions, and must be the max the gun can loosen if it hammers on a bolt for an hour and a half...

The MAX is definitely more powerful. But the Nitrocat is something I'm perfectly happy having at home, and I've used the 2135TI, Nitrocat 1000TC, and now the MAX at work for quite a while.

I wouldn't say they're as low as 300-400. This thing feels much more powerful than my JET gun, and that thing makes alot of torque

I would think they have about 600 ft lbs of torque without hammering on something forever. My 231c has about 400-450, but that is with 150 psi not the recommended 90. I have ran bolts in then torqued with a 3/4 torque wrench and the bolts either barely moved or didnt move at all.

I'm not talking about the rating, compared to other guns ratings, compared to still other, older gun's ratings. I'm talking about what it will ACTUALLY REMOVE...

400-500 ft/lbs is freaking TIGHT. Most guns, 2135Ti included, have difficulty with things that are really that tight. Crank pulleys on Japanese cars come to mind.

I still maintain that (just like HP ratings on compressors) they're all overinflated... But the 2135TiMAX is still ridiculously strong compared to my previous guns.

If you were using a 2135TI now that's about 2 years old, is it worth it to switch to the 2135TIMAX? How much louder is the 2135TIMAX than a regular 2135TI?

I have both ... not really worth switching unless you just want it like me ... the sound/noise from both sounds almost identical ... :)

The MAX is probably a tuned 2135 to flow air better. A guy i know has two identical snappy drills, one he blocked up the exhaust to slow it down and the other is not modified. Uses each depending on what he is doing....

The two values are actually apples and oranges. What Aircat refers to as loosening torque is the same as IR is calling Nut Busting Torque, which equates "it will break a fastener free torqued to xxxx ft-lbs within a reasonable amount of time" The 780 reverse torque for the IR is actually the torque that it will tighten a fastener to (left-handed thread of course) in 10 seconds. The difference is due to the fact that when a fastener is at a given torque less torque is required to loosen it than to tighten further.
