It’s time for a new floor, what do you recommend

So it looks like I’ll be adding onto my garage. Thus I’ll need to do something with the floor. The main garage has 4+ year old epoxy with the paint chips on it. The epoxy has started to chip off and wear out. It has over-spray from bead liner projects and kiddo (and dado) spray paint projects. The decorative paint chips means that if I re-coat the floor it won’t be smooth. Also I won’t be able to stain the floor due to the epoxy. I cut and weld, run floor jacks and jack stands on the floor…OK I’m VERY hard on the floor. What do YOU recommend to cover my floor with? Also, do you have any ideas on how to prep over epoxy?

You should be able to sand through the chips. Once sanded, solvent wipe and apply another coat of epoxy over it. Good epoxy with a clear urethane sealer is easy to clean and holds up fairly well over time. Of course welding is another story.

Also...
chipped up areas need to be addressed prior to coating.

Pick a color and have it put in the mix, then have it power troweled until it starts to overheat and marbelize. Then use a good sealer.

Around here all of the big box stores like Walmart and target do this, its fairly cheap and as durable as a regular concrete floor.

I cant help with overspray tho, I am fighting that right now myself. I think in the spring when this project is done I will just buy a used floor burnisher and strip and wax it instead of mess with any spendy sealers.

It looks all dust covered and crappy right now, but it cleans up easily.

what is the product that you used? what mix? Floor looks great though

He poured a new floor and added integral color into the concrete. Then his mason power-troweled it really tight. He likely densified it as well.

Sorry, I was confused I was thinking about the garage addition and not your existing floor. Legacy is correct, that's integral color in my pics.

Can't you grind all of the epoxy off and then stain the existing floor?
