I picked up this oTc Owatonna H-163 1/2 drive ratchet for my own collection. I need some pointers on a complete tear down. I removed the selector and then... I stopped before I ruined something. There are no visible retention clips or anything for that matter...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Nate, here's the link for OTC. How's about a pic of the face drive side.

Damnit I need to go to sleep but this ratchet has been stuck in my head for 2 days. I FEAR that teeth are broken inside.... Moves one way freely and the opposite way it gets jammed up. Kicker is I only paid $5.00 for it so no matter what I'm fine. I would really like to get this damn thing open though.

But you DO have some access through the switch area. Hose the interior with Carb cleaner several times, then lightly lube it with something light (Gun/3 in 1 oil) and reassemble. Work it gently, and see if it is any better. Repeat as needed.

If you get it free and smooth, then worry about a more durable lube.

Yeap ive shot some blaster in the but no carb cleaner yet. I pray I get it freed up completely.

I sent an email to oTc but got a rather short response. My email was rather short, the contact area had a small limit to type. Heres what I got. I dont blame them I bet they get some strange warranty requests.

What I sent

"Hello,

I am in need of some information regarding a rather old oTc ratchet. The part number is h-163 I would appreciate any and all information you have regarding it. Thank you for your time. "

What they sent

Sorry, we no longer offer ratchet # H-163. The ratchet mentioned below had a 90 day warranty. The lifetime marathon warranty started in 1984.

Then the page of warranty info

Any luck fixing your ratchet? I have the same problem you described on a h-363 (3/4" drive) ratchet.

I also have this ratchet with the same issue- works well one direction, but can't be reversed... So there are three of us in the same boat. :(

Did you ever get yours apart, NastyNate?
