Are Kastar tools any good?

I am looking for a good retaining ring pliers set. I really like the snap on and mac pliers, but I was looking around online and seen the kastar set for a fraction of the cost from the competition. Are they any good? I took a look online and found that they are made by A & E Tools. Since snapon, mac, craftsman and many others purchase their tools from other companies and mark them up, is it possible that they may have done so with kastar?

Are there any other retaining ring plier sets that you may recommend. I am strongly considering the mac set, but if you have a cheaper set that you can recommend I would consider that too.

They (Kastar) OEM alot of tools for various makes like Snap-on and others. Strider (I think that's the name), also relabels snap-ring pliers and such for some brands. I do not know which brands though.

The one issue with the buying the OEM's, you may have an an easier time warranting through a truck brand or sears, if the issue arises.

I assume your looking at fixed tip?

I had bought a 3pc. set of reverseable, interchangeable tip pliers, The largeset one is also ratcheting. They were availabe under many brands, but mine say Matco (got a nice deal).

I am looking at purchasing the fixed jaw plier set from Mac PK1250 which I can get for $140. I noticed that Kastar sells a very similar set for $67.

The Craftsman ones really do resemble the Mac ones. I have to say that I think you have me sold on the Craftsman ones. I am unsure how I could warranty the Kastar ones easily and the Mac and Snapon ones cost too much. Craftsman seems to be a good quality and if they break I can just take them to Sears to be replaced, no questions asked.
