Is it worth rebuilding? Is there an Ingersol-rand rebuild kit for it?

Thanks

Sears has that manage my life or whatever its called, you can look up the model number of the impact and it will show you all available parts and rebuild kits including a parts breakdown and manual. Before ordering parts though, try some PB Blaster air tool reconditioner. Works pretty good on restoring air tools if they've gunked up. And its cheaper than any rebuild kit.

Have you ever greased the hammer mechanism? That is what the little detent ball is for on the side. Try some air tool oil. Take it apart and inspect it for debri or damage and give it a good cleaning. It uses o-ring seals, so you can put it back together without new gaskets.

It is definitely an IR2131, thanks for the tip. I have never greased it, only have run air tool oil through the inlet port. I had no idea that it had a grease port. Oh well.

What type of grease can I use... will aeroshell #5 or regular wheel bearing grease work?

The tuneup kits are 30 for the motor and 70 for the hammer. http://www.tooltopia.com/search.aspx?find=2131

I think I will just take it apart and clean/ grease it and if that does not help, just buy a new gun. Any tips for disassembly, cleaning, lubing, and reassembling one of these guys? I assume it is pretty straight forward?

Thanks for the help guys, this site is great.
