Help with a Kroll waste oil heater?
Me and my brother are in the process of cleaning out the acumulated 57+ years of stuff my dad collected.
Having run a garage there is also "some" used oil in drums. Normally we'd put in the shops waste oil heater and be done with it but since the waste oil heater was replaced with a residental unit years ago I dont want to risk it.
During the clean up we come across this old waste oil heater that I was hoping that someone might be able to help ID
and fingure out if anyting is missing and how it works. The only info is on the removable storage tank which calls it out as a Walter Kroll, built in West Germany (so you know its old). The manufactures tag is washed out so there isnt any information on it. The other tag has a listing for Kroll W400 &W400VL which I assume says that the oil tank fits those units. (Of course Kroll isn't interested in helping ID the unit).
It doesn't appear to have a typical blower assembly that you'd find on a modern waste oil heater or home heater. It has what looks to be a sum pin the bottom and thee plates that rest in it. Then there is a down draft fan (shown hanging on the wall). The anecdotal information that I recall is that this supposed to be able to burn just about anyting. It just does it slowly.
So I put it to you, proud members of the garage journal, can anyone help??
