Is this Snap On Box Worth 700?

depends if the left top box is snap on or not. i have seen the right top box sell for as much as $350 alone

i know in minnesota that side boxes sell quicker then any toolbox.
the bottom box is probably 200-300 and the matco box is probably 100
so basically it looks like he is asking top dollar

i seldom see a side box sell for less than $150 around here.
the KR300 with all the drawers could easily go for $450- $550
if i was in the market, i'd offer a little less, and see what happens, but if i really wanted it, i'd pay $700

it should be 32"-33" wide
sorta an optical confusion with the side boxes sitting on top

I have seen a couple porta benches in my area go in the $250ish range, but did not have the full drawer set. I'm holding out for one like you have shown, but won't give more then $350 tops. Side boxes, $150 each tops.

So I just got off the phone with the guy and I offered him 400 for the two SO boxes. He counter offered with 500 for all three. I still would have to go check it out and make sure everything works and there isn't any structural damage BUT.... should I take the deal?!
I really dont want the Matco box though...

Make the buy, and resell the Matco.. If you get a decent price for it you are at $350..
Dumb question: How do the side boxes attach? I have one like the pictured Snap On box, and don't see any obvious way to attach it.
I have a HF side box and it just hangs on the end with a 'lip' made on the side box and two small bolts on the bottom.

you should be on your way to get them by now.
model, SN and date codes should be stamped on the back of the SO boxes.

The main box will have a date on the back of it. It looks to be mid to late 70's if I had to guess. The sides would most likley be 80's. That bottom is what is called a porta bench, those where made from the 40's to last appearing in the catolog in 1995 if that tells you how good they are.

Just make sure the drawers all work fine and all the casters are straight, not that the bottom got bent somewhere along the way. Those are tough, heavy boxes.

$500 for all 3 is pretty good.

with the logo plate on the one you orginally showed, it's probably 70's-80's vintage

Ahh... didn't notice the difference at first. Oh well... looks to be the same design though
Rust, id markings, bent handles, and holes that are not factory.
I personally would not pay over 5 bills for it. But that is me.
If you get it and restore it please post up some pics .
While I have to give credit for a cool find, the price here in OK
is a bit high. Different area brings price up or down.

from what i can remember they were made up until the mid, (possibly late) 80's.
mine is a kra300E dated '76
closest "matching" top box was a kr 537.
kr 637 would fit also.
So I took a look at the box today. Everything looks good. All but one drawer works smoothly. The one drawer just rubs the one directly above it but still feels like the slides are smooth. Not a big deal to me.
The markings on the back are KRA300F and has a serial number endign with 80 which I assume designates the model year.
Other issues I found were the lip on the side boxes that are used to hang them were a little banged up but it didn't look like it comprised structural integrity. All drawers in each side box worked perfectly.
Overall, it looked to be a good looking box.
Now, I just gotta decide!
