Care/Storage of Telescoping Gages

I am the lucky owner of a brand new set of Mitutoyo telescoping gages. I was curious of proper storage and care procedures for the gages as I know from owning micrometers and calipers that there are some things that shouldn't be done to precision measurement tools. So do I store them retraced or extended? What is the proper lubrication for them? Also, one of the gages has a bit of a drag on it and it feels like a bit of dirt is in it. How can a clean this? Can you take these apart? Thanks :thumbup:

My first post. Whoohoo!!!! I am a licensed machinist btw.
Store inside (heated room). Apply very light oil as to retard oxydation. store extended. not locked. That's it.

To clean, look at the track, use a tooth pick or something and clean the groove. The lube with light oil.

I think you could add some of those silica packets around the tools to help keep the moisture down.

Tupperware + Diesel fuel on a high shelf generally works.

I always use three-in-one oil and store them in the relaxed state.
