Forms going in Monday, will give me a chance to re-route one sprinkler line that is gonna be at one of those corners.

I have no need for 12-14' walls. Not going with a lift or RV.

I just wish I had room to put one twice this size!

I am 5' 5" and with 12.5' ceilings my 57 wagon sits pretty close to 10' off the ground. I would rethink the height of your ceiling if you don't want to be bent down working under a car/ truck. Good luck with your build, will be checking it out.

Lookin' good.

"Aledo/Lubbock" - LOL, only a Texan is going to get the humor in that. (His part time commute of 300 miles). Honk or wave when you go by Merkel.

Only advice--other than always make it larger--make the roof pitch the same as the house. Trust me, you'll notice the difference.

Yeah...300 miles and I make that drive WAY too much.

Like I said, no lift. I've got floor jacks and creepers. Go old school with it. :eyecrazy:

I would have loved to match the pitch of the roof. One quote increased by $4K :shocking: for it, the other said he doesn't go higher than 4 pitch. So...I can live with it. ;)

Well...after a stormy few days in which 18 tornados came thorugh the area, we have dried out and got some work done. Forms are up, rebar is 90% in, conduit and plumbing chases are in.

One question...do I need to sleeve the white PVC sink drain pipe? The grey PVC will have Pex running through it. Any input? Then of course, the other grey PVC will have wire.

We pour tomorrow morning. :willy_nil

Looks good.....pretty slick and a threshold for the garage door. I prolly would have poured a sidewalk to the back door along the edge of the building.

Coming along nicely! Any updates?

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that pour job cost you?

22 yds. I don't have the price broken out right now.

Contractor is Miller's Metal Buildings out of Burleson, TX. I know of 3 other buildings they have built and they looked good. Welded square tubing building.

The threshold is good...and there is a brick ledge along the front face there too.

I talked to Keith myself, but Annetta South has all these permits you have to comply with. I know 3 different people who have used them and all have been very happy. Yours should be finished in about 3 days if the weather cooperates. I am around 5 from you by Old Annetta-putting up a 45x50 but so far all I have is the slab.

Is the rebar reinforcement a code mandate, or just something you added? Reason I ask, most of the slabs I see poured here in Georgia don't use it, and simply run cement with fibers.

Ground shifts every season. Anything with mesh would be ruined in a couple years.

I honestly don't think your shop going to big enough. But I guess if you're just using to park things it will be fine.

Yeah...bigger is always better, but I just don't have the room in my yard without taking out all my trees and moving my side fence. I am working with an acre lot here.

Cement with fibers only come into play during the cure helps keeps surface tension cracks from forming......Provides zero benefit once the crete hardens. Wire mesh always ends up like a roller coaster up and down thru the slab. Re-bar is the only thing that keeps the slab together along with a properly compacted base.

You don't see slabs/foundations around here without steel. Out where I am, we have very expansive clay soil and as said, just a fiber slab would be gravel in a few years. Local code is #3 bar 18" on center, two runs of #4 in the footers with corners - minimum. Driveways get that or 24" OC, although when they did the neighbor's driveway they went 12" OC. OP's got a lot more rock in the ground where he's at, but it still moves around. The slab people buy bar in bulk from the suppliers, so it adds minimal cost to the work overall compared to the benefit. Probably 1/10 what it costs you to buy rebar at Lowes by the piece.

Man, I've got to learn to use Google Sketch. I tried it and was overwhelmed.
Is there an easy tutorial to learn it?

Lots of video on Youtube explaining different things you can do.

They are hanging steel today! In fact, in 3 hours, they've got the whole frame up and have the walk door and window installed!

3''x3'' 14 gauge steel post
2''x2'' 14 gauge steel trusses
1 1/2''x1 1/2'' 14 gauge purling ever three feet

I'm excited to start my water, electric, insulation and eventually OSB skins.

I haven't seen other buildings constructed quite like that. Structurally, it is similar to a post frame building (trusses resting on top of poles ~10' apart), but made of metal. At a glance, it looks like carport-type tube frame buildings, but it really isn't the same sort of structure. Is there a name for this type of construction?

You are on your way now. It took me a while to move forward with my old steel building a few years ago, but once I started, I was amazed how quickly the electrics went in with just me doing it nights and weekends. You have helpers, so you should have it wired by the weekend.
Looks great.

One thing I have noticed today. You poured all that concrete yet the man door opens onto bare ground. Any plans for a sidewalk ?
