I've been lurking for a few months, reviewing peoples garage builds and ideas, and absorbing all sorts of information on this site. Wow! There are some truly inspiring folk here.
I am planning a garage build this summer on two acres here in Minnesota, with a house to follow in another couple years. I've remodeled four of the six homes I've owned to date, and my dream has always been to build a house and garage/shop before I get too old. Well, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, and that has motivated me to move forward. She'd like to see this house built and live there before... well... she just has chosen to encourage me to git 'er done!
Here is the design, as it looks on paper. 1700 sq ft main floor, high bay, two standard bays, and a 500 sq ft wood shop. Also with a 500 sq ft loft area for storage, and maybe a place to warehouse the kids when the come home to visit from college (cuz' that's probably where they'll be when I get that far!)
I will look forward to reaping the rewards of everyone's knowledge in insight here at GJ. There's a lot to be learned.
