I'm going to build a carport like the one pictured that Nimrod has, well not really but that is what has made me think of doing it. I have some old and reclaimed wood and not a lot of room or money. Have a metal (****) carport now so over the summer hope to have it done. And yes pictures will follow at a later date. This is going on the side of the house because like most of us my garage is to small

We went to Japan a couple years back and in a crowded neighborhood (like all of suburban Japan) I was amazed at this carport.

This would not survive a day any similarly populated area of the USA:

Sorry 2nd picture is blurry but you can see tools left out and not locked up.

We had a very nice carport my father built onto the house I lived in as a kid... He built it out of redwood back in the 1950s. Its still standing today. Even the redwood siding hideaway trash area still looks to be in great shape. Had a walking utility Room on the other side of that screen door... With a full set of kitchen cabinets and counter tops he installed that were removed from the Kitchen when he first upgraded it. He also re-modeled and expanded the upstairs with double dormers, front and back.

Unfortunately the house is now owned by a slum lord as the old neighborhood has deteriorated to the point where it is now mainly made up of housing for those that can not afford a retirement community. Some things you should just never find out...

Here are pics of its current rundown condition...

Excellent additions MPOWERD, AMC and SHRINE
I gotta get mine built. Problem is I would like one in front of my garage for cars/truck and one on the side for the RV. I want I want I want but I am basically retired now so things aren't as "doable" as before.
