I hope you're not planning on drilling holes into the box. . .

Possibly, depends on how it's built and if I can make it do what I want. I'll also probably be mounting drawer slides inside the tall drawers so I can make a 1/2 length sliding tray on top of each drawer, too.

If the lid gets heavy, I might even weld mounts for another set of gas cylinders in it.

It's just another tool...

I'd suggest a 1/4'' thick plate of aluminum and drill holes into that for the clips. You could also mount some cabinet door handles on the plate for lifting it out of the drawer for transport. I want to do something similar but with pegs for sockets.

I have that same Snap-On box, and need the clips for the top lid, but the local SO dealer hadn't a clue as to how to order them. Thanks for the link.

To attach tools to the underside of the flip up box?

Looks like a clever idea to me. I just dunno where to find clips to hold them in :headscrat

Have you considered "rare earth magnets". These are incredibly strong disc shaped magnets, of varying sizes, and can be adhered directly to the underside of the lid and the tools attached. Because the area of contact on the lid side is so great compared to that of the rounded or curved tool profiles , the magnets will stay in place.

No, I'd never thought of that, but that's good to know! I may have to give those magnets a shot and see what I can do with them...the price is right ! :D
