Can anyone give me info on what its worth, what it could've been bought for new, years it may have been made? To me who knows nothing of toolboxes would say 60s or 70s.

Now that I'm on a computer, I can post this.

Basically, this box was my dad's, presumably when he had less tools. Looks to be late 1960's or early to mid 1970's. Has been sitting in my garage now for a while, empty. The box itself is in great shape, the paint, not so much.. but it's what is on the inside that counts. Decided I'd use it once my tool box got crowded. I figure I can keep it kickin in memory of my dad, too.

Well.. the time has come.. decided to clean it up and oiled the slides with marvel mystery oil last night. Come out this morning, drawers open and close real smooth.

Got most of my stuff in there. Need to track down which wrenches were mine and which were the main boxes, find out where the rest of my plier set went and other odds and ends but 95% of it is in there. Need to find a different kind of socket rack. I see these ones here and there that look like little plastic bases with pegs that stick up that the socket goes onto by size. May have to look into those.

Is the Williams badge a decal or a metal plate? That might help date the box. I had an old Williams tool chest (up until recently) and the name badge was metal, like an automobile fender badge.
Those Williams boxes are built really stout. I had a hard time parting with my Williams tool chest (but I upgraded to a larger box).

Hello,I know I may be in the wrong spot for introductions but I came across this post and had to reply.
First off, thanks for having me.It has been a real pleasure reading your posts and gaining some valuable information and advise on tools.
I own a vintage Williams tool box that I also received from my father decades ago.It was purchased by him while working at J.H. Williams here in buffalo,NY as a scratch and dent sale they had set up outside near the guard shack in 1965.
I have recently restored the 6 drawer box and have put only the essentials in it. I will include a before and after pic of my project and again ,thanks for having me.

Now that's twice as sweet! Your Dad's box with a known connection to
the company. If you aren't familiar with Alloy Artifacts, here is a decent history of the tools from Williams......... http://home.comcast.net/~alloy-artifacts/williams-supercompany.html
