Here are a few pictures of my in process build. Currently it's 40' wide x 64' deep with 12' walls. We've got the bathroom/utility room framed up so far.

We're putting the air compressor, toilet, sink, pressure tank for the well, washer/dryer for shop rags and maybe the water softener in there.

Once I get part of the electrical and plumbing roughed in, I can have the county come out and inspect everything and hopefully start using it.

We plan on foaming the walls and roof deck for insulation then we'll fur the walls and ceiling out so we can finish it with OSB.

Very nice looking!
Living in New Mexico, I envy the trees and the building.
Keep the photos coming as you progress.

Next it to hang the OSB on the walls and install the studs between the trusses for sheetrock. More to come as I get pictures taken.

I'm sorry for the lack of updates. We're working on building a house too...

I used Icynene for the foam. It has an R factor of about 3.8 per inch.

Walls were done with about 4" and roof deck has 6".

House will be treated to the same.

Total cost for house and shop is $14,500.00

Broken down I'm guessing the cost for just the shop was around $5500

So far, I'm pretty pleased with it. The installers could have done a better job but I am just a little too picky sometimes. There are several places they sprayed and it came out of the building around seams in the metal. The company doesn't have any recomendations as far as removing it without damaging the panel itself. They did tell me this stuff does not hold up to UV very well and it should breakdown fairly quickly if exposed day in and day out.

I should have had the front and rear trusses ready for the ceiling so I wouldn't have to mess with the foam to hang the sheetrock but we'll figure something out.

Thanks for all of the kind words. Next is adding more light, ceiling fans and air lines.

I'm thinking I'll use these for lights: http://www.ebay.com/itm/6Lamp-T8-Hi.../260877715238?pt=Lamps_US&hash=item3cbd860726

I wanted them that way since the walk in door was on the side. I didn't want to have the enclosed trailer in that bay and the boy walk in and bang the door into the trailer. (or anything else parked there.. :D)

Holy spray foam! Looks great, you'll love that foam.
What are you planning to heat with?
What doors did you go with? (brand, size, insulation)

Did you pull the trigger on those ebay lights? They look pretty good- wanted to know if you had them in your hands.

Why 12' walls? We have been looking to move and most of the acreages we look at have 12' walls. My current shop is 16' with a 14' door for camper etc. Is it the climate where getting things in is lees important or the extra cost. I was thinking of going 18' on the next one so the crane can be taller and clear 14' and I can put a true two level office, bathroom, storage area.

Looks great. I also offset my doors so I have an 8ft wide work area down one side of the shop. That is the side with the lathe, mill, toolboxes, work bench etc and the bay I keep open and active with short term repairs and parking. The other side is the "slow" side with storage and the dreaded stalled projects.

The reason I went with 12' walls was because my last shop was that way and I never needed anything bigger than a 10' door.

As far as heat goes, I have a wood burning stove but honestly...I don't think I'll need it.

The other night it dipped down into the 40's while I was out hanging the OSB on the walls and I actually got hot and only worked in jeans and t-shirt. It was very comfortable.

If anything, I'll use some infrared propane heaters to just knock the chill off.

I'm not sure what brand of garage doors those are. I have a door guy that really takes care of me when I need stuff so I just use what he suggests. They are currently 10' x 10' steel insulated units that he installed for $750.00 each.

The wife gave the OK on the lights from Ebay but I'm waiting until we get the ceiling and walls put in first. I'll report back once I have it do. It will probably be a little while since I start sheetrocking the house this weekend and then from there I will be confined to working on it because the wife is ready to move into it.
