(Warning! Pic Heavy!)
So this is my first build thread on any forum so bare with me. I have aquired all this stuff i the first post on craigslist for $230. We are currently strapped for cash but I just can't wait. So, here we go!

I work for a LARGE airplane maker in Washington and just so happens I found this surplused Snap on box for super cheap on Craigslist.

The Crafstman I aquired for even cheaper from VWVortex.com from a fellow VW nut and is made in USA!. I have already cleaned them up and polished them so this is about as good as they get. The Snap on has heavy duty casters with Zirks on them!:rocker:

This 1970 give or take I dug out of a womans garage. It has original top with it to!

Original lock even came with key!

Picked this up from harbor freight as a B-day gift.

Everything else I think came out of a work van and im going to see what I can do with them. The only thing I don't have photos of yet is 2 wire racks. They will be here soon.

Its wonderful to see you re purpose those items out of a work van. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I am using old packing crates to make shelving in my garage. Us low (or no) budget guys have to get creative. :) Click on my sig line to see what they look like.

Starting with only the door so the rust doesn't eat through the metal. Then I will see what it looks like and how far i will rework the while bench.

All the peg holes on the back side are almost so sharp they would cut you. Deburred and stripped of paint and cleaned.

Here is photo before deburring the holes.

Got the door all cleaned up. The rust ws pitting pretty bad and inside of the door not razor sharp anymore. The pics make the door and the previously rusty bolts stand out big time. It doesn't look so bad in the daylight or garage lighting.

This week is to finish the top and build a frame with casters. The frame will hopefully be built from vintage stainless steel handrails from an elevator in seattle. Stay tuned for that. Cross your fingers it will work.

Where did you pick up your foam at?

I got it from a place called the foam store. The black foam isn't the style that I wanted but it is cheap and I could actually afford it lol.

I glued the two together with contact cement. Next time I will spray them after I cut them out because the cement doesnt realy ever dry lol. Sticky tools.

Thanks for all the comments! Today I am sealing the workbench top. Turns out it is "flake board with hard board overlay" like MDF.

Anybody know anything about the pressure pot? I can't find a product number anywhere. I have seen some similar on the web but they appear to be older. I believe the hose is same vintage as the pot and sprayer.

Great attention to detail.
I like the old craftsman how to booklet. Everyone is so happy on that cover, even without a respirator.

Lol! They did. I looked at the Craftsman catalogs from 68-72 and all the images showed the drawers on the other side. Also, the back of the bench was in a little better shape. So it all worked out to my advantage.

Got the vise finished. Took a couple times painting. I was having issues with spraying to thick lol. Note to self, no painting while drinking:willy_nil:lol:.

Thanks for all the late compliments!

I used a spar urethane clear gloss with lots of thin coats and sanding in between. I have used it a ton with all kinds of abuse and still looks new unless you look in just the right light. I think it will be easy to quick sand and hook it up with a new top coat to make it perfect again.

I was stoked on the vise and spent all kinds of time to make it look good again but it was just to big for my table. Sold it for $200!!

As for the craftsman box, I am positive it's made in USA.

It is actually a laminated CDF/hardboard. They are made for Craftsman and you can usually order replacements from Sears.

Looks really good!

You should paint the walls though. They reflect more light in light colors, collect less dust and are easier to clean! I used cheap exterior grade semi-gloss paint in mine.
