How About This: Buy From Epstein's Day?

Many of us have bought from or at least heard of Harry J. Epstein. They are an old-time, family-owned (I believe) hardware store with a damn good selection of USA-made tools and an apparent commitment to USA products. I also recently learned that they will do some pretty bad-*** custom art on your packages. I mean seriously, where can you get that kind of service in 2012?

Anyway, what if we sent a message of support to this company and their products, philosophy, and practices by having a "Buy From Epstein's Day"? We could pick a day where we would all make a purchase from Epstein within the same twelve-or-so hour period. We could communicate our reasons for ordering when we bought our stuff: we support what you guys are doing and want you to keep it up.

You could order a single item or a bunch of stuff, that's up to you. The spirit would be to support a business that you appreciate by giving them the one thing a business needs most: money.

Mega-corporations that we might want to send messages to are so large that they would never know who we are or that we had even tried to get their attention. A small place like Epstein's, especially with one of owners being a member here, would definitely notice us. It's good for them and good for us, because we all love to buy and receive awesome new tools.

Post up your opinions about this. The idea might be awesome, or it might be a total *****. I've had my share of both types.

Well wait until the 29th when I get paid! But other than that, I am 100% for this idea. I had a huge list of "wants" from their website.. looks like I might have to limit myself to a few hundred $, but I think I can do it

Count me in.

Edit: By the way, total ***** made me laugh a bit. I apologize.

Their site interface is a bit different, I suppose.

We must have similar senses of humor, then. I still can't believe that when I was a kid there was a successful tv show on that had a character named "*****." That was ridiculously funny.

Glad to see initial support for the idea!

I just placed an order today. I order from there from time-to-time. Ordered $131.19 worth and then called in and added two T-shirts because I forgot about those. He added them to the order without a problem.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I love ordering from there. They are KC-based and know the drill with respect to Made in USA. Support them and you support Made in USA.

If you can't think of something try ordering a Harry Epstein t-shirt. I have one but I wanted two more. Navy blue with gold lettering. I've worn that shirt all over my travels to Asia proudly. There is no better way to support a great store than to be an unpaid walking billboard for them.

I'm in. Did you end up ordering the armstrong ratchet I suggested from them in that other thread? If so how do you like it? I am seriously thinking of ordering the 1/4 and 1/2 flex to complete my set.

Count me in. I've been meaning to buy something from them ever since I found out about their site through GJ. I think a date around July 4th is a good idea too.

I would be in. They have a few items I've been seeing, but just can't justify buying more tools...:scared: LOL Let me know the date. I get paid bi-weekly and have a few bucks extra after the Mustang parts.

I'll do it. I first ordered from them a few years ago. I called first to find out how, and the person that answered was so patient answering me questions and sounded like they were actually glad I was calling.

Harry J. Epstein Co.

Since we have you here, can your website handle in the influx? And is your stock updated in real time?

It would be a bummer if we caused more harm than good. Or had people not getting what they want because inventory is not up to date.

That said Ive order from them before and would do it again.

I don't think the influx of traffic would be a problem. We don't have a real time inventory, but we try to keep good stock in what we have.
