I have one- came from Costco, paid $279. Used it about 8 times far, works a treat.

But, the hose WILL melt and leak when in contact with the hot muffler...

Is this a budget-variety machine with a cheaper engine, or a solid unit despite the low price?

the honda cv190 engine is a very decent engine, the pump is direct and looks easily serviceable. the one review with hose to muffler contact seems to be user error. the hoses connect from the underside of the unit. the only way i could see it being a problem is if your on a ladder and can not rotate the machine to prevent the hose from making contact? i am in for one! simpson is a great brand. this is a great deal!

the one review with hose to muffler contact seems to be user error.

It was self-deprecating humor. The only reason it was NOT my fault is that I was not using the unit at the time.

I did, however, end up paying for a new one.

I did not mean to malign the unit- I'm very happy with it.

What do you think about this comment in one of the reviews: "The gas on/off control is screwed onto the engine with PLASTIC and broke the 2nd time I used it."

How far into the process do I need to go to see the shipping?

Title says 175 shipped?

Yes, but on the web page the unit shows something like a $168 price tag for me. I assumed shipping would vary from person to person, unless they have arbitrarily decided to ship these for seven dollars, or there is tax to pay that I haven't seen yet.

the fuel knob is plastic, so is the start and run knob. nothing unusual for these engines. my guess is the valve seal is tight because its new... a little caution and care when turning fuel on or off is all we need.

I picked one up. Ive been searching CL all this summer for a decent deal and havent come up with anything at this price unless it was a cheap electric style washer. My buddy has one of these very similar (his has a plastic tray near the pump, not sure what for) and it was a pleasure to use. Hopefully this one is the same.

Seems like the idiot that doesnt know to keep plastic away from heat it spreading his review everywhere. From Amazon

Bought this because of the good price but it's cheap and reconditioned for a reason. It has a design flaw that allows the powerwand hose to come in contact with the engine which burns through the hose and starts leaking in seconds. Also the gas on/off switch is attached to the engine with a cheap plastic piece which broke the 2nd time I turned it. I am returning it and buying a Generac Pressurewasher from Lowe's.

He probably had the hose coiled around the engine and started it before getting the hose off of it.

I meant to post a minute ago, this is defintely a budget machine. Good engine, cheap pump. Expect a machine with a good pump to run ~$500+.

I called Simpson and asked how much it would be for a replacment pump direct from them. $75.48 plus shipping. So even after replacing the cheap pump once, I'd still only be at ~$250 :)

They didn't have the model number of the pump, she could only tell me it was made by "Fly River Pumps". If that sounds suspicisouly Chinese, that's because it is, but at this price point you should expect that.

I'm not so sure. Says stuff ships same day if ordered before 5pm EST, but my order from yesterday still says "not shipped".
yep my order placed yesterday is still "being processed" probably getting slammed with orders.. still a live deal, they place a sold out over price when deal is done.

No not at all. More so on the guy that has listed his review at several different sites selling this washer. He has even used the same username.

I think its funny that somehow he thinks its a design flaw that he managed to press the plastic hose against the exhaust long enough and hard enough to cause it to melt through....then has the nerve to blame it on everything else except his own stupidity.

We all do stupid things like this every once in a while....its how we react to those mistakes that determine what kind of person we are

I got this from costco a year ago. Did my garage floor for epoxy with it and the double car garage we have now. I washed the entire decks/fences. driveways.. probably has seen 100hrs of use so far.. It's excellent. Only thing I do NOT like about the unit is it rusts... IE: When using a pressure washer there is mist, the mist gets on the machine and then if you don't dry it off as soon as you are done the screws will rust... That's my only gripe with the unit. Other than that it's solid! Very good buy for the money especaially if you don't spend $300 on it like I did.

I received mine today. The unit itself looks to be in great shape, although the frame was oily, I assume they had to drain it to ship it. The upper handle with the plastic wand holder is busted and looks well used(actually it looks like it got run over, literally), not refurbished.

Engine and pump look unused, and the tank doeant smell like its ever had fuel in it. Maybe they have to replace it for shipping?

Im gonna give them a call on monday after I have a chance to fire it up this weekend and make sure everything else works like it should.

srmofo, definitely give them a call, their very helpful and probably just send you a new handle assembly. received mine today, looks brand new, never ran. the only problem i have is when shipping it must have been laid on its side and the carb was oil fouled. i need a new air filter its soaked with oil. i used it without the air cleaner and this pressure washer is really powerful, i'm thinking a tad more than 2700 psi. i used it for about an hour and never skipped a beat. looks pretty durable too, nice wand and four spray pattern nozzles are not cheap looking. solid unit...

I got a chance to use mine today. I did have oil all over it as well as an oil soaked air filter. I was able to grab a new filter at Home Depot though. Overall I am really impressed with the pressure washer. At this price It was a steal! Thanks again for posting this!

Mine came, looked like new, worked great, had a small piece of rubber get stuck in one of the nozzle's but after I cleaned out it has worked fine so far. Def. a steal for the price.

I got around to starting mine up last weekend and some jokster thought it would be funny to put a defective coupler on the end of the wand. (the brass thingy). As soon as I pulled the trigger I got more water in my face then came out the tip...It also leaks pretty bad from the water inlet but I honestly believe that is my hose. (its a little beat up).

I didnt get to call them today, but I will be tomorrow.

All in all Im still not completely upset with the purchase, but I should have known better. Im the guy that will buy brand new merchandise, will take it out of the box to make sure everything is accounted for before leaving the store, then get home and discover I have the one defective item that slipped through QC out of the thousands they produce. I have the worst luck with things like this and up until this point resisted buying refurbished items because I know my luck. Oh well i guess, theres worst things in life

srmofo: I think your is leaking b/c you might be missing a few items on the inlet connection. I found this briggs&stratton inlet on ebay and looks the same as the simpson pump. Noticed there is the filter screen and another washer. Both of which are missing from my inlet.

These items are very small and QC folks could have easily overlooked them. I am wondering if it is ok to use the washer without the filter screen. Anyone know the answer to this?
