Hi everyone, I have been checking out everyone’s garages on here and OMG. So I figured I would show you my current garage. I’m currently in Afghanistan working as a government contractor supporting our troops. My job title is Vehicle Maintenance supervisor and this is my garage in the middle of the Afghanistan desert. I hope you guys like. Sorry no hot rods or bad a$$ bikes come in this garage. :(

Is that in Kandahar? I was up north for a year with the Army in a tiny COP so we never had contractors but I always wondered about them when we were coming or going and staying at FOBs. Mind if I send you a PM for some info? Stay safe!

What are the inside walls covered with? Looks like some type of bat insulation or is it sprayed on?

Are you on a large base? That tank has target has target written all over it:lol:
Not much oil on the floor, what are you maintaining?

Not to bad, It’s nowhere as big as KAF.

Ya that’s what I told them when they put it up there.:yikes:

We service anything from an M-Gator to a RETCH. And I run a very clean shop. Between cardboard, drip pans, and oil dry our shop stay spotless as possible.

This is seriously neat stuff. Thanks for posting it.

Who makes Westward? Is it decent? What other brands of tools and equipment does the government use these days? I think I see some jack stands on a bottom shelf in that tool room; what brand are they? I'd be curious to know what stands Uncle Sam uses to hold up an armored Hummer.

Do not know a whole lot about the Westward brand but the tool box is built very well, no Snap On by any means but a good tool box and tools. The jack stands are Westward also. We have tools from just about every tool brand out there, from the cheapest to Snap On.

Thanks for posting and supporting the folks over there! Nice clean facility.

What is the typical day like 8-10 hr shifts or on demand 24-7? I'm guessing you don't leave the base for fun without ****** or maybe not at all. What is your off time spent doing then?

We are on 12Hr. shifts 7days a week with no holidays. The only time we get off is when we go on R&R. We get 30 days a year of R&R. We can take it any time and not all at the same time.

As far as down time, not much of that. But we have a gym watch movies or the internet. We do not leave the base for anything except to go to other bases, and that’s by helicopter, some FOBs are by military convoy. It’s kind of like being in a minimum security prison with a little more freedom.:willy_nil

I am not trying to be a *** but you need to watch posting any up to date battle ready MRAP or MATV pictures. Stuff like the CROWs system or RPG nets do not need to be on the net. Other than that, great post.

Go to google, type in RPG nets for MRAP, and click on images. He's not posting anything thats not out there already.
