Some common Craftsman tools you might run across at the next sale you attend:

* The 2 speeder ratchets and Whitworth wrenches actually came from a local sale by the same people last week. Also the tools aren't really all that common

The gold ratchet is only a few years old; it was one of those "commemorative" jobs...

The Whitworth set is awesome; kindly send me those and the tappet set with the clip please...

Thanks guys.

Indeed it is, a little work and it'll be as good as new. When I found it I was hoping to find the rest of the set, hopefully not bent, but no such luck.

So how much was the gold ratchet?

More than a candy bar but less than a '68 KR500.

What is that socket used for? Is that a reducer of somekind?

Good question and I have the answer. I ran across a couple of those in the past and picked them up just to find out what they were, never did. Then a week ago I discovered what it was. Lets wait a bit and see if someone else knows.

That ratchet is a lot older than you think it is, it's an award ratchet not available to the public, it's an early -V- series with the hole in the "anvil" for the quick release and a part number so 60's or 70's. Not sure if the plating is real gold or not.

A pretty ho-hum haul, eh Mickey?

I like that magnetic protractor jobbie (among other pieces.)

I've got that exact same Craftsman hatchet. My Grandfather bought it for me when I was a small child so I could join in with making camp when my family went camping.

However, seeing as how it's apparently a bad idea to give small children sharp hatchets, before he gave it to me he took a file and blunted it into a smooth rounded edge. It's still dull as a boot heel, 45 years later... lol.

Shopping at the Museum again?

:bowdown::bowdown: The pictures are of how mighty Craftsman once was and how different the American sense of self reliance was.

Where else would you get whitworth wrenchs to work on your MG TC/TD in your driveway before HOAs on the Weekend? Sears of course.

Quite the Haul!!! :thumbup::beer:

Two speeders? Are they both 3/8? Heard somewhere they made 1/2 drive also. Killer score!

Went back to the sale the following day and picked up a few more goodies. It's late so I'm heading off to bed but a sneak preview:

You ****.

Those SS sets are rare as hen's teeth...

The box was empty, I used it to put some of the things I picked up at the sale, the proceeds:

Some old Craftsman note books filled with sales numbers from the 50's and 60's, Sears was making some serious dough. And while the rest of you suckers are manually fastening rivets I'll be doing them with hydraulic assist, the way the elite fasten their rivets.
