Back in February I posted this thread http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130860&highlight=mongotom with several photos of our new garage. Since then, much has happened.
After my wife and I wired the garage, we had open cell foam blown into the structure.
After we had it drywalled, we finished the wiring, installed the lighting and I painted it. We sunk troffer lights in the ceiling to maximize the ceiling height. In all there are 40 T8 5000K 4' bulbs, 24 down the center and 8 on each angled side wall. The light in there is perfect.
The floor was coated with epoxy and polyaspartic polyurea and looks great.
My wife and I installed knee walls in the loft and then put down our first and last tile floor. I like the way it turned out. I've since installed some shelving and am ready to start storing off season items and the like up there. I'm planning to get a chain fall to attach to that outside beam to move large, heavy items.
There are motion sensitive lights on all four sides of the garage.
The gutters flow into a 100 gallon water barrel in the back, next to the generator. We built a platform to raise it above the level of our raised bed garden, so we could gravity feed that.
We installed a small (8,000 btu) window air conditioner. The place is so well insulated that it does a fine job of keeping the temp and humidity under control. The doors are wired into the home alarm system as are the heat detectors on both floors. If things get nasty out there, we'll know it right away.
This entire project has gone great. The only thing I'd do differently is the interior paint. I got clever and used fire-retardant paint and it's just awful stuff. I wouldn't do that again.
