Custom pry bar holder

So I guess this fall under fab thread but its for my toolbox so I put it under here.

I designed this for my toolbox because off the shelf wouldn't hold my 42" prybar without hitting the ground. So since I designed it myself I could also design it to hold my breaker bars as well. Its made from .100" 300 series stainless cut out on a laser. I am pleased with it. Sorry for the mess in the garage (I was cleaning and organizing the past two days.)

Looks good.I have been thinking of doing something like that for my box.Although I would have to drill the holes instead.

laser holes are cooool!!! I think I would have rounded the corners off on that flat surface, looks like a DIY nut slicer...

Very nice. I've seen guys take aluminum I-Beams, cut off one side. Then drill holes like you did to hold tools and such. I guess it just depends on what you have laying around.

I'd like to see the top folded over so it just hangs off the top lip of the box. You could sell them here.

Can you black anodize ss? Would blend with your nice box that way.

Yea I folded it with a Cincy press brake.

Its unfinished for now. I dont know how I want to finish it. I was also thinking about a lip but I prefer the clean look of bolting up where the handle would go. Also I didn't go with a way to lock it up because its my personal toolbox. I think I am going to paint it with the same color as my box.

I dont know if you can anodize stainless steel. It only stainless because that what we had lying around. I also don't know if I would make them to sell. The mounting holes and pry bar holes pretty much custom to my tool I have.

Next project is going to be Vim style midget wrench holders.

Looks very nice, be very careful not to scratch up the side of your box when putting them back in the holder (unless of course scratches don't bother you), I recommend putting cardboard in between the holder and box along the whole side, if you haven't done that already.....

Thanks for the compliments. Yea thats what I want to do. I want to find something so the ends of the pry bars dont scratch the **** out of my box.

Duplicate your bracket and install it further down the side of the box, this way the pry bars will go between two holes and won't sway. Make sure to radius the outside corners for safety and a more finished look.

Yea that is a good idea! But how to mount it without drilling new holes? I guess I could use the panel threaded insert tool at work but its only metric inserts.

Unless I make it like a long "C"....

you could make it longer on the top half and bolt it through the top one . that way you dont need to drill. I dont think a second set of holes would have to be much farther down to keep them from hitting the side of the box maybe 8 inches? i dunno just and idea

actually looking at it again if you made one with lets say a 12 inch drop before the bend then bolt your first one through the longer one and then into the holes you have now it would sit flush

Double stick tape would be fine for the lower holder. It would have no weight,...only being a guide for the tools. Bill

was reading through the forum last weekend looking for a great inexpensive way to mount my prybars and get them out of the box. I used 1 1/2" aluminum angle and a step bit. quick file on the holes to debur and rounded the corners so the kids dont cut themselves. just need to hit it with a quick shot of black paint to match the wrap of the worksurface and im good to go.

I was standing out in the garage after buying the Craftsman pry bars today and the harbor freight ones about two weeks ago and saw the empty magnetic Harbor Freight screwdriver/can holder on the side of my refrigerator. So I broke out the unibit and die grinder and made a pry bar holder. Turned out pretty nice and the magnets seem plenty strong. Now I have to decide if I want to drill another hole in it for the little Harbor Freight bar.
