After seeing Baada's garden shed workshop I thought I'd post mine here as well. I live in a house with a very small yard and the Boro building codes require structures to be set back from property lines 5 feet. So that limited the size of my shed to 10x12 as to not take up my whole driveway or yard. the shed was built by my the man who lived next door to my wife where she grew up and is 14 1/2 feet tall. I bought the shed from him for $700.00 plus $200.00 to have it moved. When I bought it, it was a very dark brown color and had white metal trim that was damaged in a few areas. So first order was to paint the exterior and add new trim (sorry no before pics) also the windows were on the wrong side and they were cheap plexi-glass that opened from the outside. I bought 2 small windows from Lowes and installed them on the other side and closed up the old ones.

Inside I built a workbench and moved my tools in, I added electric and lights.

I inherited this wall of bins and most of the content from my grandfather. He had them in his garage and they are filled with nails, screws, nuts, bolts and washers of all types and sizes. I could not just throw it all away so I brought it all home from Virginia Beach.

My loft ( What a MESS, I really need to clean it up and reorganized it.)

Future plans are to add a small lean to shed on the rear to house all garden tools (rakes, shovels, weed wacker and possibly lawn mower) then cover walls with OSB and reorganize floor plan, do some type of flooring and clean up area beside shed and add another gate. Thanks for looking and any question or comments welcomed.

Great use of a small space.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get electricity out to your shed?

My shed (if I ever get to build it) will be around 30' away from my house (in the back yard).

Thanks for all the nice replys everyone.

Brian B, The electric was done by a neighbor I don't like to mess with eletrical stuff. A new line in metal conduit from the house about 25-30 feet away. However since the previous owner of the house black topped the entire yard (which right up to the house, the conduit is attached to the fence and comes in the back side of the shed behind the gate.

WhoWhatNow, That plate was on my wifes car for a few years untill we sold it. I have no clue as to how they let that one through in Harrisburgh but someone was not paying attention. As for what I do for work, I'm a police dispatcher.

mypov, the shed is 10 feet wide x 12 feet long and 14 feet 6 inches tall.

Again thank you all for the nice comments. I'll update this thread as I continue with my future plans and reorganizing.

Wow, great space. I really like the "Bus Stop" sign too. It's hard to express how much better it feels to have your own space, even if it's only a little space.

Glad I could inspire you to post it here for us to see.

Thats all for now until I get some OSB for the walls and I am looking for a cheap flooring option. I am trying to design and plan a small lean to shed for the side so I can moves the kids bikes, mower and garden tools out for a little more room. Thanks for looking.

Inspiring! I would consider cabinet doors for under the workbench so there is less cleaning to do Other from that! Really nice & logical shop!

Man, for a 10'x12' shed, you got it going on. Nice workplace for sure. Any plans on insulating it for going out there during the winter?

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. The walls have foam board insulation in them I just have to do the the end walls above loft and the roof at some point. I like to go out there in the winter and with the small propane heater going and both windows cracked I can turn it into a sweat shop pretty fast.

I made a few small changes to my shed this weekend. I really think it will help in keeping it organized a little better.

I added this small work area to have a place to sit my bench top sander or grinder when in use. I repurposed a plywood box I built to use in our sunroom but no longer use in the house. I turned it on end, hung it on the wall and added shelves. It now holds spray paint, gas cans, car wash products and some tool cases.

I moved the peg board from behind the radial arm saw to the corner and fit all the garden tools.

Then I spent the rest of my time cleaning up and organizing alittle more.

Now this is a great space. This is what I want to do with my own shed. I am stone cold ashamed of my shed for the junk I have in it, and I do have a plan to get mine looking like yours. I have seen this done in magazines before and even one guy had a complete woodworking shop with a huge tablesaw, jointer, and other large items in it. I am amazed at how you got yours organized and my hat is off to you. In addition, the style of the shed is excellent. I am totally impressed, and more so, I am inspired to get my own in shape!!

Thank You!!

Best Regards

I love your shed. I built a workbench and shelving in my 12 foot shed. It was a fun project and didn't take long. Though it doesn't look nearly as nice as yours. It really does up the usefulness value of a shed exponentially. There is a lot more usable space. Unless you have shelving and bench space, a shed is mainly just floor space that gets covered fast. I mounted a $12 HF vise on my shed workbench. Also, I added a folding table towards the back to store stuff on top, and there's lots of space under it for stuff like the lawnmower, snowblower, etc..

Thanks, First thing I did after getting my shed and fixing a few things was added the workbench across the back with the shelf under it for extra storage area. I added shelves where the lawn tools now hang. I took them down while reorganizing the other day.

Thats your shed !!! :bowdown:Whats your garage like:3gears:

Unfortunately I don't have a garage. So I make do with a small shed to work out of for now.

your use of small space is great, love the ideas.

Thanks.

Of all the reorganizing I have been doing out in my shed I actually found some tools. I have had a 5 gallon bucket with a bucket buddy tool organizer in it on the shelf under the workbench. It was stuffed full of tools. I knew I had them but forgot what all I had put in there. I emptied it out and refound lots of stuff including multiple pairs of visegrips, a ton of screwdrivers, some wrenches and drill bits.
