Could not tolerate another day in the shop listening to the same lame song-sets... Ordered me a XM Radio Edge from Crutchfield, they have a $50.00 rebate on all models through 9-30-12. Also got the speaker dock for it. All I can say is WOW! I could not believe all of the new music I have been missing. In particular, Smooth Jazz... That base station is a must. It is by far the best sounding of any I have ever heard. Extreemly pleased with the system. Mounted the antena under the external metal roof overhang.
Now for the cell phone reception; with the doors closed on my steel 40x60, I get a very eratic signal. Took someones suggestion on here about the Criterion Dual Band Amplifier system. It is a comercial quality system and the price reflects the same. It has improved the signal throughout the shop and so-far I am pleased with it as well. I can throw up a few pics tomorow, but not much to look at: antennas and amp...
Thought I would share.

I have two Sirius XM subscriptions. I also pay for online service which I use with my IPhone and a docking station. Howard Stern, NASCAR, and plenty of music.

FYI: Sirius/XM pricing is notoriously wonky. They'll get you started with a promotional price- $25 for 6 months (I'd have to check), but will then automatically renew at the FULL rate- something stupid like $10 or 12 after the promo period.

I enjoy the programming, and our family has 4 different subscriptions- I even have one on my dirtbike.

I have renewal dates for each subscription in my electronic calender, and call the day before the expiration date and threaten to disconnect unless they give the latest promotional deal.

They will usually escalate the call to a higher level, but have always come through for me.

I do enjoy satellite radio but the current monopoly pisses me off. They have the absolute worst outsourced customer service ever. Problem is I spend so much time in my vehicles I don't think I could go without it, so they got me.
My usual thing is to wait for the automatic renewal and call back to cancel at which point they credit me back half the cost.
Opie and Anthony on Sirius 206 kicks howard's ***.:pimpflash

Re: XM Radio and Cell Phone Amp Shop Install/Pic's

Here are a few photos of the cell phone amp system and XM set-up. The XM antenna is right at the corner of the eave (little black square).

I've had Sirius/XM for years. I get the group deal on three Sirius radios and pay full bore for XM. The reason why? If they combine the accounting into one deal, that ******* Howard Stern will get a bazillion dollars for added subscriptions.

I need to do a little checking on Sirius vs. XM. I could not possible care less about Howard Stern or Opie and Anthony--I listen for the music. I renew every 6 months and they wanted $102 to re-up. I threatened cancellation (like others here) and they knocked the bill down to $52. I think I will try this again in 6 months.

If XM only offers Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony, would I better off switching to Sirius? As I said, they mean even less than nothing to me. I have been with XM for at least 6 years now, if memory serves. If there is a substantial difference in price, I may switch.

Please tell me about your ceiling fan, make, model, would you recommend it?

The fan is a "Big *** Fan" brand and the model is the ISIS. Its 10' and runs on 110v, draws 2.2 amps @ 60 rpm. Totally silent when on. I purchased a demo model from them. Moves more air than the other 12 fans I have throughout the shop combined...

They are the same company now sirius/xm. This means you can get the same programing no mater which equipment you buy.

After looking at my cell amp antenna installation, I realized that the steel roof may be scattering the incoming signal a bit. So, I raised it up about 30". It made a pretty good improvement in the inside signal strength; all the way to 5bars in select locations.

Check into a lifetime subscription next time you renew. My Dodge came with Sirius and at the 1 yr renewal the customer service person suggested it. Think I paid $200. That was in 2007 though.
