I didn't find what I was after in searching...

I am curious if anyone has made hanging bookshelves from wood for the garage for storing shop manuals and anything else literature-wise. I'd love to see some pics of what anyone has done for neat guy book storage.

I have many books I'd like to keep out there (Chiltons, Haynes & Clymer shop books, tractor manauls, small engine repair manauls, garden and landscape books specific to certain projects and some home improvement specific books on plumbing, wiring, etc) and would love to see some ideas if there are any out there

I put tool owners' manuals in a storage bin in a cabinet. I rarely need to access them, but now I know where they are. I keep Chiltons/etc in cases above my sink that are covered. The problem with having them out in the open is that they end up covered in dust/sawdust.

I use one of these-
And it's pretty loaded with manuals, catalogs, and other literature that's needed for the garage.

As Jack said, keeping them in a cabinet keeps them clean, dry, and protected from other damaging means.

LoL I would probably need a 30' wall full of those cabinets to hold all of my manuals and magazines that have anything to do with cars, motorcycles, tractors, etc... and I wouldn't mind that if they were at giveaway prices. (Yeah, I'm a reference junkie.) But, I'll probably end up with a few hundred dollars worth of lumber in open shelves when I build my shop.

That's exactly my predicament...I have so many books and manuals, and may olny use a particular one once every two years, but when I need it, I need it!

Thanks all for the replies. Please keep them coming if any more are out Ther.

small manuals that are 1-10 pages (weedeater, chainsaw, powertools) or so that I store in plastic page protectors on a 3 ring binder, some of the others are stored in a plastic bin to keep away from mice larger books are on a shelf with the bin and binder

most manuals are available on the manufacturer's website. For the love download and/or scan those manuals, gents! then they are available for reference swap and share! I have GB of space consumed with engine and car manuals. I've spent some time compiling them, but now they are totally available at a moments notice. Love having them on garage computer or tablet!!!

I have one of those white cabinets too. Mine is 48" wide. I use the top shelf for the big manuals and books, then the next ones down for magazines and cut-out stuff. I have all my paper parts manuals in paper boxes andmarked which are in which boxes since I don't use them hardly ever (I have them on disc for work)
