These carts are made by the high end German tool company Hazet; for the vintage volkswagen, porsche, or bmw nut, they are a nice addition to their collection! hz166n_copyright.jpg

I would love to have one of these! Anyone ever have one, used one and would relate their experiences with it?

One of the old vintage ones would sure look good next to my old VW pop top camper.

I've used one, a workshop I sometimes get in the way in uses the collapsible box for its valeting supplies, both in day to day use and to go to shows.

Plus points:
- Very well made
- Easy to organise
- Easily fits in the back of a car
- Very lightweight when compared to a rolling chest

Minus points:
- Not particularly mobile, the handles aren't ideal for rolling them over rougher surfaces
- Base tray isn't all that deep, and isn't flat
- Lightweight top, ideal for a manual, but loading it up with parts wouldn't be a good idea

While we're on the subject of European manufacturers, the 'shops main tool boxes are Beta SuperTanks, the best workbench/storage combinations I've seen.

Now I really want one of those Beta Supertanks. Those are sweet. I like the design of the website, too. It's easy to navigate. I'll be buying the biggest box, the Masta Beta.

Wonder if those have the grip glide latch?

That is a pretty cool old cart. I wouldn't mind having one of those!

That is sick, where would you find such a thing, is that Lista?
RP

It is Lista. They are for they heavy equipment machinist. My father in law was the south/east chief mechanical engineer for Shell. The first time I saw one was in an old tool catalog he had. The small ones start at about 20,000.00 us dollars. This was not a small one.:(

Hi, I realize there are classier reasons for joining a forum but until I googled that Hazet Assistent, and shortly thereafter this thread, I had no idea what to make of this thing I was going to list on eBay tomorrow. It seems to be a Japanese copy circa 1960's. (PS if you want to customize your expressions of disgust you can call me Hans for short.)

Hans, please don't sell yourself short on this. I have completed a 1981 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 to showroom condition and have a complete NOS 3/8" Ko-ken drive set from the same period as part of the show collection. I would love to have a period Japanese version of the Assistent for my collection and display. I have also restored vintage MB SL's and one 600 Pullman, so I also want a Hazet version to find a home for my MB SST's.

I have a real Hazet Assistent. I'm barfing all over the keyboard as we speak looking at this knock-off. It's akin to the Mercedes-Lexus thing. The Lexus also makes me barf!

Hmmm. Let me see. A Toyota serves a purpose. It's an economical reliable everyday car. A Lexus is a rebadged Toyota, not economical, perhaps reliable but ashamed of its pedestrian roots. Why not just call it what it is? A Toyota LS400. It copies german car styling and steals Mercedes technology but lags just slightly behind using what has proven to work and avoiding what doesn't. Mercedes does the footwork, pays the price by experimenting with new cutting edge technology for the benefit of the automotive world and then gets criticized when a gadget fails. That's why I hate Lexus.

Why do people hate Lexus?????

I got it about 3 years ago off of ebay for $700. It was new in the box. It still resides in the bedroom next to my other toolchests. My girlfriend just loves it. All that stuff will end up in my garage as soon as I finish re-doing it. Can't wait! I'll get you some pics soon.

Don't see the item on eBay.

eBay Trust and Safety, in its wisdom, removed the listing for "inappropriately" including the words, "Like Hazet" in the title. My life *****.
I gave them a blast though. Check back soon.
Oh, and thanks for all the smooches. I generally get banned from forums in no time.

Maybe true once, but if you still think that's still the case you just haven't been paying attention.

Actually Lexus still emulates BMW and Mercedes design elements and the same goes for technology.

I want to have one of the tool cart but it looks like I am priced out of the market for sure.

Found a Hazet 804 on craig's list for $30 a while back. Had little use as the insides are clean and it is still a little stiff to from the paint. Plan to set it up as my track side box for motor tuning.
