yeah, i got the deal from tooltopia a while back too. love them so far. looks like there are more deals being posted on SD.

i like the quality of Gearwrench stuff... to me, they are a step up from the Craftsman stuff I have, but deals like this make it affordable. also, really nice to see deals on Gearwrench stuff that isn't just ratcheting wrenches... they have a bunch of non-ratcheting combo wrench kits, pry bars, and socket sets, etc. I don't think I need any more ratcheting wrench sets, but the other stuff is interesting... i ordered some of the pry bar deals.

Thanks for the heads up, The 18pc full polish set was tempting but I think I am going to hold off, I would like to think I could sell the ratcheting wrenches that it comes with and get most of my money back but I am sure ebay will be flooded with these.

Little disappointed in this company so far. None of the items show a stock status it appears, so I thought they were in-stock. Apparently all of the loose GearWrench parts are special order, and they called me to tell me that I had to pay an extra $4.88 for each warehouse an order shipped from, or I could wait "several weeks" for them to get everything into their central warehouse for free shipping to send out at once.

Shady...

Yeah... from corvetteforum:

4212 STREETSBORO RD, Richfield Ohio, 44286

There is an older post on this forum regarding this company. The guy who owns the place is Robert Smith, when you call they will always say there is no one here by that name. His General Manager is Gary Miller and again they may say there is no one there by that name. Robert goes by the fake name of Dillon James and Gary goes by Nathan. When you talk with anyone on the phone they always give a false name, all employees are instructed to do so. Robert Smith owns two businesses a wholesale operation called NTX website is NTX.bz. The retail business is Coastal Tool Supply. They 3-5 websites operating under coastal tool supply incorporation. ntxtools.com usatoolwarehouse.com etc etc. If you look up Coastal Tool Supply it says they are located in Seattle WA. 93 S Jackson St. Seattle, WA 98104 If you look up that address it belongs to Earth Class Mail Not coastal Tool Supply

Please check out this website http://www.earthclassmail.com/Seattle-Address They did incorporate coastal tool supply there (Washington State) but the only thing at the address is a mail forwarding company that forwards their mail to Ohio. They have three or four Toll free numbers as well as (206) 926-3804 which shows up as a Seattle phone number, all of the phone numbers ring at the office in Richfield, Ohio. If you look Under NTX in the Ohio Attorney Generals office it was incorporated in Ohio. The physical location of the company is in Richfield Ohio. They are at the corner of 303 & 21 is an old house converted to a commercial property on the south west corner of the street. 4212 STREETSBORO RD, Richfield Ohio, 44286 They do in fact have some warehouse space but it is shared with John Dow Industries in Barberton Ohio, 151 Snyder Avenue, Barberton, Ohio, 44203. 800.433.0708 www.johndow.com

They did in fact literaly run this business out of his basement for years. This company will lie to you. You can fact check any of this if you do not believe.
I personally believe there is nothing wrong with drop shipping products as long as the business doesnt lie to you and they do what they say they will do.

Please note they ARE NOT Affiliated with Coastaltool.com in any way !!!

I don't think it's an outright scam, I think we will probably get our tools... I think they just dropshop most items and don't actually have them which causes all the grief.

When they told me my items had to be shipped in to their "main warehouse" from their "other warehouses", I asked them specifically if they drop shipped and he assured me that they had 9 warehouses in the US which were their own. I'd bet both my nuts that this isn't the case.

I take every post, negative and positive, with a grain of salt - even the BBB can be a joke. But the abundance of evidence seems to indicate this probably isn't a company I wanted to do business with... I vote with my money. My mistake! Now I have to be extra careful to not accidentally vote for Obama :D

I just went on "Live Chat" with the company, and spoke to a fellow named Mitch. See the script below:

mtd240: Hi,

I placed an order (#231474) yesterday, and did some further reading on your company. It looks like there are many who have had a negative experience - can you assure me that the tools will be sent out, in 24 hours like your website states? If it will take longer than a week to get here, then I would like to cancel my order.

Mitch: Hello

Mitch: Most orders do ship out within 24 hours, depending on the tool ordered.

Mitch: As far as the negative reviews go, we'v been in business for 18 years, and we've made some mistakes. Unfortunatly people don't post the positive experiences.

Mitch: What tool was on your order?

Mitch: You ordered KDT-81920

mtd240: I ordered KDT-81920PROMO Long Combo Wrench Set 18pc Metric Gearwrench + KDT-9412

Mitch: Plenty in stock it will ship today.

mtd240: Yep - will the "PROMO" 9412 ship with it, or separate?

Mitch: with it, we buy them from KDT as one unit

Mitch: I have a warehouse in Baltimore, and I will ship it today.

They assured me as well that the GearWrench promo items are in-stock and will ship promptly.

I'm going to see what happens.

I haven't received tracking or any update from NTX, but I have UPS My Choice so I received an email notifying me the package is to be delivered tomorrow. Looks like they did ship it out promptly!

It's from Medco Tools, a large wholesale tool distributor with 8 actual warehouses. So it appears NTX is a drop shipper and only has the one "warehouse" at their location, as I think many of us expected. Unfortunate I was lied to on the phone, but I'm glad they're an actual reputable (I think) company :)

Just a note about NTX. I was looking for a rare part and NTX listed that they had it in stock. After waiting a week and not receiving any type of notification, I called them. At that time they told me that they in fact did not have it in stock and it would not be available. They apologized and I ASSUMED that the order was canceled. About 4 weeks later, the item arrived (after I had purchased it from somewhere else). So, be very clear when you talk with them and write down dates, times and the names of the people you speak to.

anyone else have a status update on their order from NTX?

i contacted them today via online chat and i'm getting the run around i think... they are like "oh, I'll have greg check on your order. he'll email you" - disconnect. A few hours go by, nothing. So I contact them again. "oh, greg can't get a hold of anyone from the east coast warehouse. when he hears back he'll email you." - disconnect.

just considering some of the things posted above, i'm dreading this becoming a fiasco i have to deal with my credit card company...

These guys operate under several different names and I had to do a chargeback to get them motivated to correct their error earlier this year. No more business with them even if they had a GREAT deal, Tooltopia has always been great though- support the good guys.

Hmm, placed an order, too. Now I'm a bit worried. Going to give it a week I suppose...

EDIT: I just live-chatted them and one of my items is, surprise, out of stock. However, they haven't yet charged me for my order. I do see a pending transaction, but I will watch my bill closely.

All the GearWrench promos I ordered should be here today as well as a Lisle fuel filter wrench I ordered for my Duramax... I'll be able to report shortly. Again, these were drop-shipped by someone else. (Medco)

so, it seems my stuff still hasn't shipped out.... hmmm....

They don't send a notice or provide tracking when it ships... UPS My View notified me that a package was to be delivered which was how I knew.

The package that arrived today has HALF of the "in stock I will make sure they ship out" today promo items that I ordered. I'll follow up once they call me back today as promised.

Dealing with this company is obviously a mistake.

i contacted them via online chat and they told me they don't have a tracking number for me yet, so I assume that means it hasn't shipped.

when you say "half", do you mean that you got your ordered items WITHOUT the FREE ITEM? Or that simply not all the line items were in that shipment?

There were 2 ordered items and 2 of the free promos. The combo wrench promo was in a sealed box directly from KD that contained both 24-piece sets, the crows feet were separate packages.

So I ordered 4 items and was supposed to get 4 free promo items, I received 2 items and 2 free promo items.

I think that's the truth... whether these orders get fulfilled in the end aside, their customer service skills are severely lacking in my opinion. Is there a place in GJ where people maintain a list of "vendors to avoid" ?

:(

i don't need to guess.... but hey, at least you got some stuff delivered to you. yeah... i'm probably going to avoid ntxtools.com from now on... ****, if this turns into a huge hassle, i'm just going to cancel the order and call my credit card company.

Doug called me back this morning.

The flex sockets they show as being shipped to me, but weren't in the box. So they are "investigating that".

The flare wrench set promotion was out. When I asked how it is out of stock in one of their own warehouses after he assured me it was in stock and he would make sure it shipped out that day, he explained that they were when he told me that, but then when he went to order them someone else had gotten them. When I asked why he didn't contact me then, he said that it doesn't show up immediately.

I then asked why he said these items were in stock in one of their 9 warehouses, when only some of the items were and they shipped from a 3rd-party drop-shipper, the story on warehouse ownership changed to them having 9 warehouses and they can also ship products directly from vendors.

When I asked to cancel the remaining items like the KD items that would take "several weeks" to come in that they asked me to pay extra for so I could receive my other items promptly, he said he would do his best but some were items they've never sold before so he is not sure if they can cancel them.

Honestly in what few dealings I've had, I'm willing to bet this is the most dysfunctional company I have ever dealt with. It's clear they don't even have an automated ordering process nor anywhere near up-to-date inventory information, they lie about warehouse ownership and simply place the order from a drop-shipper.

Good luck to all.

Same here, this guy's full of Sh**, never again, i have ordered :

6 Pc. Flare Nut Wrench Set - 1 EA 39.90 EA 39.90
S AE
PROMO 6pc Flare Nut Wrench
Set SAE + KDT-81906

The one set came in, the promo set is missing, i was on the phone with him 3 times now and he offered me "generously" to purchase the "free" set and he would "only" charge me a minimum for shipping.

I told him i will ship back the set and he has to refund me including the shipping costs to what he agreed.... i am curious what's happening now.

NEVER AGAIN with ntxtools.com ..... Lesson learned.

Thankfully my issues didn't get that far. My card showed that there were the charges pending after I had originally received my order confirmation. After that, whatever it was like a day or so later got a "person" email stating that they were sorry and that they wouldn't be able to fulfill my order at this time!

I emailed them back asking them why'd they go through the lengths of sending me a confirmation and the reply I got back was less than stellar. Some sob story about inventory here & there & everywhere, lions, tigers, and bears oh my!

In the end, no goodies for me but I am also thankful I won't have to deal with my card and finances being toyed with by them.

Be sure and read my post #19 about items that aren't "available." You may see charges showing up on your CC in a few weeks when they become available...

I've been bugging them about my order and I was just told that KD got a bunch more items in stock, so shipments should be going out today or tomorrow. I'll give them until next week to show up, otherwise I'm cancelling and notifying my CC.

well, my entire order came in today!! yay!!! it was shipped on 10/31.

man, i just wish ntxtools was better at communicating with customers and getting tracking information out. but other than that, it seems they fulfilled my order correctly and in a reasonable amount of time.

love the freebie Gearwrench pry bars!!!

Yep that was my entire order. I think that they need to be a little more organized for sure - just knowing about the difficulties other people are having, I probably won't order from them again.

Unless they have another crazy deal......:shocking:
