So I have this 1993 Corvette, and it has the removable roof panel. It came from the factory with a ratchet/T40 torx combo. I was in the console looking for something today and I came across the tool. The head looked familiar... and the torx socket had a date code on it. Sure enough, the date code matches the 1992 symbol from Snap On.

Tool in question:

With another Snap On ratchet for comparison:

Or maybe it was "free Corvette with purchase" from Snap On

So it that like a torque wrench ratchet head stuck in a Corvette branded aluminum or stainless sleeve? I've seen different versions on Ebay before. Cool tool for the Vette lover.

Now you went and did it. Now I *MUST* find one of those.

Humm, the ones on ebay don't look like the one you show. They are black. Humm...... Must find ratchet.........

the black eBay ones are aftermarket copies.

Yup. The real ones cam with the car. And the torx bit is permanently mounted to the tool (well, using a roll pin). It has no torque control whatsoever... it is just a ratchet with a real thick rubber grip handle that says "Corvette" on it....

I own a 1985 Corvette that I purchase new in 1984. The wrench that came with my car cannot be a Snap-On. Or their quality standards sure had plummeted! It is black with a vynal coated handle with Corvette inscribed. And has a extended Torx driver that is cross-pinned to the ratchet. Overall it is sure a poor excuse for a wrench. :(
