Got these yesterday. Was a pain to find in the store. They weren't anywhere near the tools, they had a tower of them by the screenwindows across the store. Incase anyone has a lowes like mine and can't find them.... Check everywhere!

I went and bought 2 sets (fractional and metric) $20 total. They are exactly the same as Hansens. The only difference is the white markings are on the tray and not the tip. With the cost of a Hansens at $60 for a complete set this is an absolute no brainer. This is the hottest savings ever!

Went and did the same with mine, and bought a second set. Can't argue with 12 racks for $40.

I like the style of them over the HF racks, and they feel more solid than the little pins on the Hansen trays.

Went to go pick up a pair when i saw that there was a new part number with a new design and the old part number that was the thinner version. I think to myself its a good deal ill take them anyways even if they are thin because its a good deal, so I open the box and Bam theres a few broken piecees in both boxes. So i went to hf to check theirs out and they have them for sale at the 7.99 previously stated and its the thicker design like the newest kobalt.

if Harbor Freight still uses the square at the bottom to 'center' the sockets then they are still the worst trays i've ever used.
these Kobalts are the best in terms of storageabilty per dollar. if i didnt already have Hansens i would buy 4 boxes.

the HF's are going in a stocking somewhere...

Does anyone know how the Kobalt trays compare with the Harbor Freight ones, sizewise? I ask because I have the HF stuff, and I have to arrange them goofy to get both SAE and metric in the top drawer of my box (HF 44"). Thanks in advance.

I had a minute, so I measured mine for you.

SAE Set:
1/4 Drive - 8 1/4" x 2 1/4"
3/8 Drive - 13 1/2" x 3 3/8"
1/2 Drive - 18 1/2" x 4"

Metric Set:
1/4 Drive - 9" x 2 1/4"
3/8 Drive - 13 1/4" x 3 1/4"
1/2 Drive - 20 5/8" x 4"

I stopped into a Lowe's today to pick these very trays up for my new small tool chest, and not only did they not have all of the trays in stock, but none of them were on sale. Check with your local store before making the trip.

this may help some-

Hansens- the sockets are stored upside down and kept from falling over by a peg that sticks up through the middle, it has the size marked on the end of the peg

lowes kobalt christmas special - these are stored drive square side down on a hex stub, they also have a peg but it does not protrude above the socket, this is much better than the Harbfrights as they seat easily and dont seize on

the harborfrights store drive side down as well but have a square that is the same size as the drive (1/4 inch for example) but i've had trouble getting some sockets on as they get jammed, and pulling them off as they seem to be sticking to the plastic, also you cant rotate them to check the size

the trays at Lowes may display the 25$ price tag but should ring up for 10$

On another small note, I really like the short pegs, since I realized I can store my 1/4" extensions on the 1/8" slots, since I know I'll never be using that size of sockets, and keeps me from getting all OCD on the empty space.

My local store still sells the 'long peg' imitation Hansen style (with the numbers on the base instead of the peg), but not in sets and not on sale. I think they're fully replacing that style with these short peg versions, which are much better. No point in having the Hansen style pegs sticking through the sockets if they don't have the size on the ends of them.

I picked up the SAE set and I prefer the Hanson's I have for my metric sockets. Mostly because I can store two of the same size on one peg. The 12 point underneath and the six point on top.

I saw these at Lowes a week ago and came close to buying them. Then I realized they won't fit in the drawer currently used for my sockets and I'd no doubt have lots of empty pegs. (Which, with my OCD would be a bad thing)

I use the rails and only have as many clips on each rails as I do sockets. When I put 'em away..it's obvious if one is missing.

My wife got me 1 set of each for Christmas and I like them so far. I was able to put all of my sockets/ratchets/accessories in the wide drawer on my 41" box, so I'm happy. The down side is that I have a few empty pegs so I need to go shopping.

I picked up a set of 3 SAE and got the last set of Metric on the shelf in Shreveport. I can't use them now, but this print I plan to by a 56" roll cab so these will work well.

I picked up two sets of each, metric and SAE and the 56" box will take the long ones lengthwise in the long drawer, but they are about 1/4 inch too long to run front to back. Just got done organizing my sockets and already see that I'm going to like these things a lot.

I was really surprised at how complete the various sets were after years of being shuttled around. I also found out I've accumulated a lot of orphaned sockets over the past 30 years.

Wanted to run mine front to back once I get a service cart, but the Metric 1/2" tray is too long (SAE 1/2" should fit according to measurements). I'll either try to run them lengthwise or get an Ernst or Westling setup for the metrics.
