Comparison of Snap On F80 vs. FH80

Hey guys, I thought I would pass on a few thoughts and pictures that might people with making a decision between the F80, and the FH80 (comfort handle).

#1) There is a considerable difference in length between the two. I would expect the FH80 to perform a little better in higher torque applications because of the extra leverage.

#2) For big guys like me (I'm 6'10", 270) the comfort handle feels SO much better in my hands. The grip itself just feels right at home with my large hands, and doesn't get swallowed up like the F80 does. I think that because of this, I'm going to stick to strictly comfort handles from now on, at least in 3/8" drive ratchets.

#3) No I'm not selling my F80. :p

Here are the pictures:

with the comfort handles have you ever had issues with space? I'm converting my ratchets to snap-on and going all soft grip and was wondering that.

Nice pics! From the pictures it is VERY apparent that for your large "paws" that the comfort handle is definitely the right solution for you. Does this mean you have to buy all new comfort handles for EVERYTHING? Man, this could get expensive! :)
Ok, time to start all over again! Just like when I had Snap-On ratchets for everything, then they switched over to "sealed head", **** I had to buy all the new models.... now, they have "comfort handles" now what next, gear-less? Ahh, a never ending upgrade path!:lol_hitti

I've never come across that issue yet. If I do, I have the F80, gearwrench, and craftsman wrenches to fall back on. I honestly doubt it's going to be much an issue for me at all. Rarely do I have to worry about a tool fitting somewhere. It's my gargantuan sized hands that I have to worry about.

Hahaha, fortunately most of the Snap On ratchets that I own are comfort handle models, so I think I'm in the clear for now. :)

Space isn't that much of a factor now with the current Snap on softgrip handles. They're fairly streamlined. It was a completely different story with the previous screwdriver type handles. They were too big for certain places.

I personally try to stay away from comfort grips. Just a long-term wear issue. Chrome is much, much easier to keep clean. And much harder to gouge or scratch.

Just a personal preference. Although, I have one FLFH80 ratchet with the comfort grip. It feels exceptional in your hand.

If any of you need handled replaced fairly soon, don't. My dealer CAN'T SEEM TO GET ANY!! It's pretty annoying.

Uhhhh, I'm about the size of the average NBA power forward. Karl Malone was about my size at 6'9" 265.

Did you play any sports in college/high school? Damn, you look like you could easily fit in as one of the linemen at University of Michigan!

How do you like the electronic torque wrench that I saw in your toolbox?

I too like the comfort grips. Have you gotten them greasy or dirty yet? That is the only reservation that I have about them. Other than that, I really like them too.
