I was in desperate need of a toolbox and after looking at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears and HF, I decided on the 26" top and bottom from HF. I was debating about getting the 44" bottom, but after moving my new box into the basement it was clear that the larger box would not would have been practical. It would have been a struggle to move down the stairs even with an extra hand and would have eaten space, which is at a premium in the small shop area.

I wanted to post some pictures and a mini review of the box since: 1. We all like pictures, right? :lol_hitti 2. In researching the 26" box I didn't find any decent pics of this particular box. So without further ado...

Waiting to be unloaded...

Speaking of casters...

No bearings, but they have a steel sleeve which the bolt rides in. The wheel feels pretty solid and durable and they spin freely too; no worries. I added some grease to everything as they were bone dry.

The keys, they seem to be solid brass. The top and bottom aren't keyed alike unfortunately.

If you guys are interested I can post some pictures of the drawers (with tools).

If you would like to have them keyed alike (may not be important to you), call HF customer service. You may have to talk to one of the 'techs,' but you can get sets of keyed-alike locks from them. I found this out when I had to order a new lock for my end cabinet, which someone had locked the key in at the store. I got a discount and they sent me the new lock for free.

I forgot to mention I did have a small problem with one of the drawer slides.
img1581rs.jpg

That piece of the bearing cage was sticking out and chafing the side of the drawer causing a lot of drag. I just cut it off and pulled the damaged part out with some side cutters. Works fine now, I will give HF a call today or Monday and see if I can get a replacement slide sent out.

Thanks for posting a picture of your key so I can duplicate it!

That's funny, never thought about that :lol_hitti

Thanks for the comments so far. This is my first toolbox so I'm necessarily proud and excited about it. I will get the individual drawer pics up later today I think.

Ok, drawer pics. I've added some things and made small adjustments since these were taken.

The top three drawers open a little crooked, but don't interfere with each other.

Think I need to buy or make a pliers rack.

Your pics are super helpful cmandp I will be rearranging my box to see how many empty drawers I end up with. Now all I need to do is customize my box a little bit on the out side to make it a little different than the norm.

Another small update. I made a prybar/ long items rack yesterday. It's just a piece of pine secured to the angle with shortened drywall screws, and 1/8" aluminum angle with two random M8 X 1.25 bolts to hold it to the cab.
