where to get SAE thread chaser (tap) set???

I haven't broken anything in the HF 35407 set in light use. I actually bought it for the thread pitch gauges. 
But spares of the taps I already had and used regularly weren't a bad thing. I might have picked it up from the mcclintock and warner store but it's been years.

If you need an actual thread chaser set then you can gat the one from Irwin or craftsman, same one different color.
Or from snap on, same one higher price

I got mine at Sears, looks lust like the Kastor set. I use the heck out of them for my tractor projects where rust is everywhere

K-Star is the manufacturer for Craftsman, Snap-on and several other brands. I've got both and they are identical.
Anyone with enough actual hands-on machine shop production time in grade to explain why, if a hole is threaded with a tap, doing a clean-out with a tap as opposed to a thread chaser will harm it?
FWIW, rust and dirt will play hell with the tap. Using a new, sharp tap in rusty holes will ruin it for precise work.

There are some who claim chasing threaded holes with a tap will ruin the bolt fit of the hole, but that hasn't been my experience.

The reasoning is that a tap is made to cut, a chaser is made to straighten the threads and not take material off. A chaser will straighten damaged threads without changing the tolerances. If you run a tap threw a hole with damaged threads the tap is most likely going to cut the metal out of it's way instead of just straightening the metal. A tap will clean out the threads but if it takes any extra metal off the threads the holding strength could be compromised. Or at least that's how I understand it.
Like mentioned Kastar makes most of the kits, sears, snap on, etc. Last time I checked sears had the best price on the craftsman version. They have a 40 and 48 piece if I remember right for not a lot of money. The craftsman ones are not warrantied if they break, considered a wear item. The snap on ones are. I don't think these are something that break a lot so probably not worth the extra cost.

I would get the Irwin high performance line they sell just the taps in a kit
