Antique Champion Type K compressor

I stumbled on this recently and am curious about its age. Its a type K. I'm guessing its from the 1920s, but could be way off. Does anyone have more info on these? It appears to be just the compressor, no tank, regulator etc.

Champion used the iron base as part of the compressor function. Note the output line going from the high pressure cylinder down to the base. Any other brand do that?

I've got a '60s Quincy pump which must have replaced a Champion, as it's mounted on the Champion base.

I have one slightly later design. Mine is from late 20's early 30's. Basically same compressor but more decorative castings. Nice find, they are quiet when running. I see yours has different valve set up also. Here is a close up of mine and an ad out of a magazine.

I went and bought it. It is in really nice shape, but it is just the air pump, no tank or motor. It will make nice garage art for the time being. DHS, yours is a beauty. What size motor do you have?

It came with a 1/2hp motor but its underpowered. I think a 3/4-1hp would be ideal. Other than my homemade refer compressor this is most quiet compressor I have ever heard. What noise it does make is a nice low chug, kinda in a peaceful way.

I thought about keeping and using mine but bought a 60gal husky so now it just sits in a old shed. I also thought about using the cast iron mounting plate and make a table for my SB lathe, but hate to separate the combo even though I do not have the original motor for it.
