I finally have something to share and will continue to post progress of my first garage rebuild. Ill start with a quick explanation as to why its called Tim's Chop Shop before someone sends the fuzz to the house. In what was initially a inside joke with friends about my project A.D.D. (never able to work on just one thing at a time) has now been coined the name Tim's Chop Shop whether my wife sends out e-vites for kids parties, adult social events poker night etc. Somehow that name finds its way into everything we do at this house. In some ways its like a freak show or for the sane people a show and tell. Anyways it was catchy when it was first brought up and now trying to get the logo and neon sign made. So to answer the question before its asked.... No its not a real chop shop.

So on to the point of the post:

Its a 22'L x 26'W garage. Complete with built in furnace(was our old house furnace) strictly for garage use only. House has separate furnace and duct work. House was built in 71. My plans are to raise the laundry room off the ground (in progress), redo electrical outlets and lighting, Plumb dust collection system, plumb airlines, clean up ceiling joists & beams, paint (Dodge// inspired), and cabinets. Simply put a fun place to complete all my projects.

Here is a rough mock up of what I am trying to do.

I do have an active discussion on the laundry room upgrade on lifting it higher to match floor level of house Here

I will post updated photos later this evening. Having issues with linking...

Last week I managed to get my hands on three of the Stronghold Cabinets Jack Olsen made famous.... Industrial blue wasn't my color... Flat black with gloss dark red doors seemed more fitting...

Yes that is a Hockey net you see. I still play in adult beer leagues (in denial I wont make it to NHL).

Appears these might need some industrial leveling feet. Floor isnt flat...

Those turned out fantastic - nice color choice!

They look sweet...

Thanks! They took forever to paint and had to wet sand some runs in the red but overall I am very happy with these. Plus moving was a small feat in itself due to the uhaul door not being as big as I thought. But got them home in one piece and didn't break my back or car thankfully....

Those cabinets look sharp; you're going to make Jack jealous! lol

Do you really need a shop furnace in Ca.? The furnace being 40+ years old (?) would make me pause to get it overhauled, safety checked and maybe even derated for a smaller space.

The layout looks nice and clean. You just have to update it to show the Stronghold Cabinets - heh-heh.

Haha I doubt Jack gets jealous much after building his perfect garage...

The furnace is actually used for AC during the summer when I need a break from 100 degree heat we suffer in Sacramento. It was installed before we purchased the house whom was a professional painter who spent alot of time in the garage based on all the paint stains on the floor.

As for the update Ill get right on that :)

Updates:

So this has taken a little longer than was hoping for but with 2 kids and wife always on the go so I am I. Ignore the messes its not my style but have no room and very little time to work so unloading and repacking garage would consume too much time. I have to work in sections (yes feels like project A.D.D.). I added enough outlets to cover workbench for anything I need, under cabinets for battery packs, high on wall for TV, built in computer monitor above bench to work on designs and fantasy football (shhh). I am adding steel feet frame for undernieth cabinet once I can get around ot welding it together and painting it.

Messy Garage with Stronghold Cabinets and Edsal butcher block workbench top.

Installing workbench top

Installing base for front loaders. Due to size limits of room was built with enough space to house 3 laundry baskets for dirty clothes. Ignore the mess it will llok like bottom picture when complete. Need to add trim and cleat to ensure it wont vibrate itself off.

Next I need to finish cabinet frame and drawers, wall cabinets, steel leg supports, and move back to water heater wall and finish that disaster... Stay tuned...

I'd frame in an opening to get at that space under the stairs. It may be small but you can stuff some things under there to get them out of the way.

Right now Garage is a mess otherwise I would have better pics but in the below image shows the door way to enter to storage under stairs and laundry room. Bottom right can barely see the opening but its there. Its already full of wifes holiday decor etc. Every bit is used.
